Thinking about this some more he doesn’t really seem like a guy Knob would really trust given his defensive game and softness.

I really hope they’ve learned from the Skinner signing and that the coaching staff is fully on board with this move.

Might be different considering he’s on the backend

His analytics were among the worst in the league defensively , but still a low risk move before the deadline, IMO. A reminder, OEL had brutal numbers for several years before he found a home on a contender in Florida last year. Sometimes, health and fit can be a bigger issue than we realize.
Also, I think they want to have RD depth in the playoffs since you absolutely cannot play Brown, so Klingberg will be the 7/8.
For sure. High end result is he’s top 4 by playoffs and gives us another RHD who can move the puck. Low end he just can’t get back to NHL level and we waive him. Middle of the road he’s a 6-8 defenceman giving us extra insurance that we aren’t at risk of dressing Brown in a game that could cost us a Stanley Cup.

stay away from the mains on this one

Hopefully he can regain some of his blueline movement. He was exceptional moving laterally and making forecheckers miss
I mean staying away from the mains about anything Oilers has been the only way to deal with this place for years. It's really rather pathetic, I remember long ago you used to be able to have legit conversations.

Stay away from the main in general. Those guys need to see a psychologist with the amount of irrational hate they carry towards the Oilers. Talk about rent free. It’s crazy.

Agreed. These days are long gone. Mods are pathetic now. It’s not worth it.

Not the most ideal fit, but he does give you a solid Plan B for if something happens to Bouchard.

He'll likely steal Stecher's spot in the top 6, but it'll Emberson's 3rd pairing even-strength minutes I see him occupying. Ty moves "up" to take Stecher's role as a platoon guy next to Nurse. Though he'll still stay in the 15 to 17 minute range.

Basically...

Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-Emberson/Kulak
Kulak-Klingberg
Stecher

Klingberg can also play his off-side like Stecher, so Klingberg-Emberson is an option if you want to have Kulak next to Nurse for an extended period.

Exactly my same thoughts.

So I will say it now, like it or now, Klingberg will get his first look with Nurse, but Stetcher and Brown have been there before the signing.

It's not an ideal spot, but it's the most realistic for right now.

I just remember him turning down 8 x 7M from the Stars lol.
I’d think about this every single night when trying to fall asleep if I were him.

He’ll never get that money, but he should be motivated to make an impact and win a Cup, he could get a nice little deal somewhere if he plays well enough.

For all we know he stretched himself thin financially, expecting to make like 50+ mil. This is huge for him personally and professionally.

Idk, I do ok on the mains.

I don't post there much, but I feel like I post some fairly spicy stuff every other month or so and usually have a good laugh with one or two people.

Not sure how you guys always lose your like privileges all the time, maybe I'm just lucky.

A better 6/7 d than Stetcher/Brown/Dermott
You didn't see him latter time in Dallas. People get mad here at Booch making some bozo plays. I liked Klingberg like 10yrs ago. Whats the fascination of this org with getting players that are well past their prime and that have injury history? Just don't see the point of this one. I like stecher, he's struggled but the team gave him no stability in D partner either.
