The reality is that most vets need this kind of wake up call on the open market. Lockett made nearly $90 million in a decade with Seattle. Last 4 years he was paid (base and bonuses), from 2021 to 2024 $21, $15, $9.7, $13 mill.
His salary from Ten is just $4 mill. So that’s like a 60% drop from the lowest he’s been paid over the past few years and a 70% drop from last season.

Would certainly prefer him to MvS as he’s still a better player imo. But, accepting that big a pay cut is hard for a lot of guys.
