Kitchener Rangers 2024-25 Season Thread, Part IV

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Owen Sound seems to be a well coached team. They match up well with the Rangers. Rangers PK was amazing last night. The Attack did a great job at breaking up plays and keeping the Rangers to the outside. It was a tight win and a great measuring stick for the play offs. Both teams played physical and had something to play for in this game. Hard to believe the Rangers hit 100 points.

Buckle up folks. Flint won't be easy.
Playoffs never are. We beat Flint 3 out of 4 in the regular season with the 3 going into OT or a shoot out. They talk about the Owen Sound games being close but all 4 with Flint were one goal games, showing that we can win the close ones. Flint also sort of limps towards the finish line. I like our chances for a "rebuilding" team.

Flint will be a challenge in a good way. Nathan Day is currently ranked 8th while McCue, Thibodeau, Kaden, and Aspinall have shown what they can do. I would think planning for Flint is already underway if not earlier. Jussi and the coaching staff will have the boys ready. It's up to them to execute and play their butts off. Going to be a fun one! Agreed, Geo. Just another step in the rebuild...

Schneider, Anstis, Xu, Cameron, Stark are drawing in today.
Ellinas, Andonovski, Swick, Pridham, Humphreys, Reid, Misaljevic, Parsons, and Campbell are sitting.
Very interested to see how these kids have developed over the course of the season. Especially Anstis and Cameron who we haven’t seen in ages and who are expected to play bigger roles here down the road.

Who says today is a nothing game!

Add in Ellinas and Hlchar as an option and that might be close to the opening night roster, as it stands now. Maybe subtract Gris.

Yep - he sure can. Will depend on whether he wants to go the NCAA route next year or stick around for another year.
IDK if he will (can even I guess) cause he kind of burnt that bridge by leaving Michigan. Not saying that he might not get another chance elsewhere but the NCAA ship might have sailed now.

Decent game today in Guelph with 8 players sitting out. Storm played a full roster. Schaubel played a good game..MacNeil with another fight. Kid is a scrapper.
How did the kids look? Primarily Anstis and Cameron.

And how did the fight go? I saw MacNiel was instigated upon. Was it a fair start or did McGuire get the jump on him?

Fight didn't last long. By the time the camera went back it was over. McGuire got the instigator. Kids played a great game for the most part. Storm had a full squad and were held scoreless into the 3rd. Rangers had their chances. Not a real physical game. Jussi seems to have everyone on the same page with his system.

Anstis had a couple of decent scoring opportunities from what I recall.

I like Cameron's physicality and of course, size.....really hoping the Rangers are able to draft more of it in the upcoming draft......and really looking forward to it. From what I read it is a deep, forward-heavy '09 class.

Liking Xu too. Not afraid to use his size, without going out of his way to make the big hit.

On the subject of '08's, Bilecki obviously has a bright future on this team - especially as he fills out. Had a good rookie season.

MacNiel was invited to dance with an OA and didn't hesitate. Linesmen were in there before anything could happen. Our boys WON'T be intimidated and WILL take action if necessary. GRIT.

In the post game interview, Jussi was pleased with the rookies and newbies as well as Schaubel. Noted that Cameron and Schneider played in a playoff game the night before.

Mentioned that many of these players practice with the team. You could see that in the game. They know the system and for players who get only some or others who get no game experience with the team, I thought they did very well against a full time on home ice.

When asked if he was score watching on Saturday, Jussi replied that the trip to Flint is much shorter. :naughty:

agree on Bilecki but I suspect McNiel will be slotted in above him in the playoff lineups. Bilecki does have some weakness on the defensive side of things. I think that's due to his youth and lack of physical strength at this time,
