MM has done a masterful job. He also brought in Max Dirracolo. Best move was hiring the new coaching staff, Jussi, Jeff and Brad have made a huge difference. Players have developed well this season.

6 regulars out on Friday. 5 out on Saturday night and they made a game of it both times.

I love the way this team plays
I think Max will be a force down the road. Has an edge to him and he is 6'4" 220 already.

It’s becoming normal out of those 2. What a trade the Malboeuf is turning into for a 5th and 7th. I think only reason why MM made the trade at the time was to bring in an ok older goalie so when they traded Parsons they had an ok goaltender to try to keep them in games.
Parsons was also the only goalie on the roster and no prospects in the system ready to make the jump. Think the trade was a great value for the situation he was in.

I’m not saying we are the favourite in a series against London or Saginaw but we won’t be a huge underdog.
Saginaw, London the Soo and Kitchener to me it's hard to pick a favourite from them? Maybe (?) Saginaw depending on how they gel as they added some huge pieces at the trade deadline. I think we have the Top 4 teams in the OHL in the Western Conference though? Going to be a nail-biting year of playoffs. Hopefully we all at least get to round 2 and then who knows?

If they stay in the 4th seed who would you rather play round 1 Guelph or Owensound. Bayshore is a tough place to play and Guelph will have Allen and buchinger back and in rhythm.

At this point, Guelph due to the travel Fatigue is going to be a huge factor in the West.

Though there won’t be a prohibitive favourite in round two in either conference, Saginaw appears to be a clear favourite to me. It will come down to health and maybe home-ice. (Brantford)
Saginaw
Sudbury, NB, London, SSM, Kitchener
Brantford, OS, Ottawa, Oshawa, Guelph.

Depending on who Saginaw draws in round two, it could get dicey. I don’t believe they are far and away above everyone else in all facets.

Not sure how you can put Saginaw in a clear tier above London at this stage. London riding a ridiculous point streak including a 6-1 shellacking of Saginaw in there.

The Knights were on a ridiculous win streak. The current streak is 2 SOL to the Otters and Petes.
I put the knights in a 2-6 tier, I think that’s respectful enough. The ‘67s were ~0.850 and I rated them 4th best playoff team in the east after last years deadline. Though I did think Sarnia was best as well.
The hounds are ~0.150 ahead of the battalion, but I think NB is a better team.
Consider it more like my power ranking rather than best team according to recent point accumulation.

It's not about being respectful. The Knights have not been beat in regulation in 16 tries. Two SOL? No shootouts in the playoffs so no worries there.

Saginaw has a very respectable 7 game win streak going. Why isn't it 8 games? Because 8 game ago London stomped them 6-1.

Until London starts showing cracks and coughs up regulation losses, they are the team to beat, IMO.

This feels like a week where Rehkopf goes on a heater. Team needs it
* no goals in the last 6
I’m Curious to see how a Romano-Rehkopf-mesar line would work

Hey Gang,

For all you OHL nerds like me, spent a little bit of time today putting this together this list of only ROOKIES just to simply look towards the future. Could be some user errors so keep that in mind. For the sake of this breakdown I put all players that were traded #’s on their teams that acquired them. Essentially their entire year would be on the acquiring team. Thats more to understand the caliber of what they have moving fwd. It does include all rookies not only 16 yr olds. Just a FYI. I hope some of you get a kick out of it. I know it made me pretty excited about our future. The PPG stat is a bit skewed as it includes goalies GP.

London vs Saginaw?

Goaltending and D is a wash I’d think. Saginaw has the forward depth but London’s physical style of play and game plan will give anyone fits. I’m thinking it’d be a long demanding series. Much the way Soo / Owen Sound was in the 2018 playoffs. The Soo won but Owen Sound’s physical battering of them took its toll.

New Sheet with the Goalies GP taken out. Therefore the PPG is more accurate.

To be truthful I've never really been keen on Oke and view him as a bit of a weak link. Simpson can have some shaky moments but has been there before. I'd say edge London.

I also think you have to include coaching in the analysis and nobody is better than Hunter.

It's not about being respectful. The Knights have not been beat in regulation in 16 tries. Two SOL? No shootouts in the playoffs so no worries there.

I mean, no Petes in the playoffs either (most likely). I'd still be concerned about them taking my team to the skills competitions! I do think London is the best team in the O, though, and if they make it to Saginaw they'll have a decent shot in a short tourney.

I’m thinking it’d be a long demanding series. Much the way Soo / Owen Sound was in the 2018 playoffs. The Soo won but Owen Sound’s physical battering of them took its toll.

That 2017-18 Owen Sound team was a bit of a weird one, I recall their fans were pretty pumped pre-season but the team did not play up to expectations. In the end they pushed a very good Soo team to seven games, no shame there but that would be a disappointing outcome for the Knights I think, at least until they run roughshod over the league next year.

Are the 2023-24 Rangers the 2017-18 Rangers in this scenario? Hahaha.

One thing I will say is there are always a few fans counting chickens before they hatch. Every year there are hot goalies and well timed goals in the play offs where under dogs win unexpectedly. It's been a fairly mild winter and if Wiarton Willie makes an early spring prognostication there might be some top teams out on the golf course early. There was the last couple years. 🏌️‍♂️

You got that Wright!

So Ando is out for tonight's game. May be a good thing....not from a D perspective but certainly from a "hot under the collar" one. Who DOES come back into the lineup? Mesar and Swick maybe. I don't think Reid will be back for a few weeks and even if Martin was ready, I'd skip this one.

I'm on edge for this game so soon to the back-to-back but hopefully, more hockey and less bashing and antics tonight. I also hope that special focus by the OHL has been placed on who does the officiating.

Game on!

Usually I’d buy tickets for a game like this but with all the injuries I don’t have much faith in the team to put up a good fight against London. Although they surprised me against Soo and Saginaw. I’ll watch on Rogers tonight. We might get one of Swick or Mesar back tonight is my guess. Everyone else is still out I think.

Hopefully the game stays on the rails tonight. One would think both team have been warned maybe even threatened with a fine if it turns into the last game.

I'm hearing: Mesar is in for tonight.

Also heard Pugs is out with a shoulder injury. ( not supposed to be too serious thankfully)
Hopefully it’s not the one he had repaired
