Will the icetime for him as a 16 yr old in the USHL be any greater?
No, he's really only guaranteed to be dressed for 55% of Steel games (34) as a tendered player which almost all of our rookie skaters well exceeded in 21/22 except for Misaljevic & Pugliese (31 games). Actual icetime minutes in games is likely equivalent, depending on Hage's performance and his role in either team's overall roster situation, but we do play 6 more regular season games ;)

I think there's a good chance that Hage reports here. It may not be ths yr but that's ok considering the crowded forward depth. Will the icetime for him as a 16 yr old in the USHL be any greater? Thats the great unknown and may be the determining factor for Hage to report here. A few trades which is inevitable with the forward depth and the Rangers could give Hage appropriate icetime for a 16 yr old.
I'm ok if both Hage and Longacre report after this season, especially Longacre. I think most 16 year old dmen benefit from getting more ice time in a slightly lower level league than the OHL.

If I’m MM, I point out to the Hage camp the ice time recent high end 16 year old rookies received with the Rangers. Hage, being at least as elite as Pinelli and Rehkopf, would be treated the same - regardless of our depth up front.

Pinelli played up the lineup, including time on the PP, as a 16 year old and we were buyers that year.

No doubt Hage would play third line minutes with special teams time worked in. He’d likely be one of the top options to be dropped into the top six in the event of injuries or any WJC absences.

Can Fowler probably comes to Kitchener instead of Windsor if we didn’t have to dump his rights to get the Tregunna deal done. That deal was essentially Fowler and a 2nd for a few months of Tregunna.

But whatever. We were hosting and it was all or nothing for DeBoer in trying to win the big prize. It is what it is.

Pederson was ok but just ok. We did get an eye opening return for him though. But not as eye opening a return as what we got for Davies. Getting a 2nd in the deal for him was robbery.

It will get crowded for Andrew up front. Especially if all three of Mesar, Veremyev and Hage report. But if just one of them doesn’t report, look for him to get every opportunity to excel in the top nine.
IIRC part of the reason they gave up Fowlers rights was that it gave them a compensatory 2nd round pick that they would an John Moore (who was an overager as far as the priority draft goes), who it seems they must have had a deal with.

I don’t think the two were related (comp pick for Fowler / Moore).

Owen Sound demanded an ‘08 2nd to close the deal for Tregunna (likely other offers on the table for him) and the Rangers didn’t have one. That’s why they bailed on Fowler. That pick went straight to OS to complete the deal.

Moore was chosen in the ‘09 draft 23rd overall with Kitchener’s own 2nd rounder. Spott and company wouldn’t have used such a high pick on a player his age but felt they had to after what happened regarding John Carlson, ‘08 draft.

John Carlson?? Yup. John Carlson revealed on a Spittin Chiclets interview that he met with DeBoer, Spott, and Adam Graves in New York City, on the down low, before the ‘08 draft and it was a done deal (cooked?) that he would report to Kitchener. All Kitchener had to do was draft him. They felt at the time they could wait and not use a high pick on him (long shot to not go the NCAA route I suppose). But, London unexpectedly jumped in and took him in the second round.

So, with John Moore similarly committing to come to Kitchener pre ‘09 draft, they were taking no chances on losing him as they did Carlson. So Moore was taken at 23.

Just wondering if anyone happens to know. When do we "traditionally" see most of our signings? I had hoped to see most of our potential candidates signed by mid summer as fall is fast approaching. I say "traditionally" knowing there will always be exceptions that get signed mid season, etc but knowing who is on board would go a long way to season ticket holders and such. Perhaps I am being a bit too anxious in getting the 2022-23 season rolling. ;-)

I suspect if there are spots remaining by mid August it's because they are waiting for camp to fill them.

From memory most high picks signed by MM has been later in the summer. I know there has been exceptions. Even if not signed and the player goes to the USHL they can always sign mid season...probably the last player who dd this for the Rangers was Michael Vuk.

Rehkopf signed mid August after “committing” to the USHL. If Hage signs, I’d expect it would be around the same time. 🤞🤞

Of the last 10, April & May have been most typical (70%) with Rehkopf (Aug11), Pinelli (Jul30) & Meireles (Sep9) being the late signings.

Roman Schmidt and Cutter Gauthier cut from Team U.S.A. A bit surprise at this...especially Gauthier. Maybe he should consider playing here where we all would appreciate him! :naughty:

Sebrango is not an oa
He started the season as a 19 year old like Cuylle and others thus allowed to play.
