New Friday night start time 7pm.
I favour 7pm at this point in my life but the extra time certainly was needed to herd everyone together when it wasn't just me going, even living just a short walk away.

Yes but they can't promise a new coach that they will break the rules and get severally sanctioned for them in order to put teams like that together for him like those 2009 and 2010 teams ;) .
Indeed, though somehow we managed to similarly sanction ourselves through mediocre draft, trade and coaching moves in the same period as Windsor ... and our sanctions were not compassionate reduced ;)

The earlier start time doesn’t bother me personally but for the sake of other I wish the Rangers would have posted the change to start times before they sold season tickets and not after.
I believe you can still cancel unless, maybe, you are fully paid up? I have a down payment and I would think they would have to refund this if I decide to pass.

Ok....so we now have the 2023-24 schedule and it's not all that bad. We have our "blue wave" of rookies and perhaps, we'll see a couple more newbies added after training camp. All we need now is a no-nonsense, highly skilled, ultra motivational, development-proven head coach. Is that asking too much? After all, a wave can go two ways - hello or goodbye. Personally, I'd much prefer "hello". Will we hear today?

There's no sense of urgency to sign a new HC. All of our top picks are signed. I'm pretty sure Mesar returning will be contingent on him getting traded to a team of his (and the Habs) approval.

We'll get a HC when the Rangers decide. As for who, we've been down this road many times since DeBoer. I'm not holding my breath.

And King St. is down to one lane just before exiting to the 401 (Kitchener to London). Do you guys know when that road work will be completed?

Dunno nelli, but shuttling my granddaughters between Woodstock and Kitchener through that mess twice a week is getting pretty tiresome. I believe it has been worked on for about 8 months now and still doesn't look nearly finished.

I have a feeling that the Rangers will sign the new coach soon. Whoever it is will need time to settle in and get ready for the new season. As for Mesar, WHO the coach is may also determine Montreal's take on where Mesar plays. He didn't exactly burn up the OHL last season so I can't see him in the AHL quite yet. Playing here would not only help him but it will also help the Rangers come trade time. But yes, stranger things have happened.

Twice a week is rough... Just Monday for me until August 14. Drive safe!

Agree Mesar needs another year of junior. If Mesar is returned I think the Rangers would want to trade him as part of the rebuild anyway . It's just a matter of Montreal sending him. I think the deal would be worked out prior to suit Mesar (and Montreal).

I'm fine with the coach search taking a while, it's only a problem if other teams looking for coaches start hiring coaches ahead of us. We need to get it right this time, it's been too many years of getting it wrong when it comes to picking an HC. Take the time, do the due dilligence. Dennis was a guy they liked from a previous position search and was the front from the second the position opened. Would rather they take their time and look at many options, and if it takes a while that's fine if it avoids another Dennis...whose negative impact IMO is being seen at the draft with Brz and Rehk falling. I think some team will get really good value with where they end up picking these guys, but it could have been better with a real coach (Rehk's useage in particular was abysmal)

Brz finally picked 75th overall by Vancouver. Quite surprised he fell out of the 2nd round. I think his late birthday, playing for an impossibly bad coach's system really hurt him (barring any off ice issues).

Andonovski drafted by the Sens in the 5th round. I said early on I could see a team take a late flyer on him but wasn't seeing it after Dennis's mismanagement. He's got the size, physicality and not horrible skating that a team might be able to work with.

Florian taken by the Habs.
At the Rangers camp, he was the sandpaper that the club needed AND could skate/play.

Agreed. He should take a big step forward this season as long as the new coach isn't anyone on the current coaching staff.

Considering they are JUST finishing the southbound lanes, it's going to be a while. I get it on both endst, Highbury construction, and King St. construction.

The current work should be substantially completed in late Fall. However, the central lane component and associated infrastructure is a precursor to the planned regional LRT extension which will surely be the mother of all local tie-ups for a few years through both that area and much of Cambridge if/whenever it actually commences.

I've been regularly commuting for work and found exiting at both Oxford 29 (through Bright to Hwy7/8) and Homer Watson to be somewhat quicker and far less tedious at busy times of day with distances all being similar. I also find the Eastbound country roads from Arva - Hickson - NewHamburg are pretty stress free too when heading this way from Western/Masonville/YXU or elsewhere well North of the 401.

Does anyone think there’s a chance Kitchener goes after the younger Brzustewicz brother who is still unsigned by OTTAWA? They have signed their others picks before him and I think teams usually sign their picks in order.

I think it’s possible. The price for a defective player taken late 1st round usually isn’t as steep as the standard 3x2nds, 3x3rds that front of the draft players command.

That being said, the Rangers have a thin draft cupboard. If they wanted to explore acquiring Henry B, they’d have to complete deal(s) to get the picks needed.

However, with the Ranger’s going into a rebuild, the #1 asset they’d look to move is older brother Hunter. If they’re moving out Hunter, the allure of Kitchener for Henry may not be there from the Brzustewicz camp’s point of view.

Henry did express great interest in the OHL (Kitchener). But I don’t see why he wouldn’t report to another strong OHL market. What Ottawa has going for it is that a couple of Hunter’s teammates had siblings playing in Ottawa last year. The Brzustewicz camp would have gotten very good intel on the 67’s and the city of Ottawa via discussions with the Pinelli and Costantini families.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Henry eventually signs with the 67’s. Especially if the family can get past how far Ottawa is from his hometown.

On the other hand, if he didn’t sign in Ottawa and was designated defective, I doubt the 67’s would lose too much sleep. They made out very well the last time they had a defective player (Marelli).

What is the allure of getting Brzustewicz anyway? Other than we get a brother duo though that is seemingly remote, as mentioned above, Hunter is getting traded anyways. He was not the top defenseman available in the last draft. And why would you want to spend draft picks in a rebuilt year unless you had your eyes on more of a "sure thing" such as a Sam Dickinson.

Thoughts about this kid?
Motor and potential IQ questions. I think maybe a question on explosiveness. Otherwise a good, smoothe skater, good size, very good offensive skillset, great hand eye and a hard shot with accuracy and good release. Inconsistent. How much of that is the undisputable bad coach and inconsistent usage (bumped over all 3 lines, one of the only guys not to have a consistent linemate; often swapped to the 3rd line to 'balance scoring' when he was showing well on the top line) and how much of that is him. is a question mark I'd imagine scouts had.
