On the Leblanc twins someone on Sarnia mentioned there plus/minus stats were -54 for Andrew and -59 for Jacob. Some of the worse in the league. I would love to see both step up and be factors on the Sting. It would show one of two things. Either they weren't being developed here and in Niagara or they were just not up to the level of other OHL players in their age group. As for this past Ranger season I think the team was vastly over rated going into the season. Some prognosticators had them pegged for a top team in the league. They weren't that great defensively the year before and basically came into this past season with the same defense. There was a total lack of leadership. They were like that proverbial box of chocolates. We never knew which team would show up. The trades they made gave us hope that we might start seeing some decent hockey. That only came to fruition in the Windsor series and that is still a mystery. It's like we saw a sasquatch and we still aren't sure it was real.
Plus minus is team dependent for the most part. For reference, relative to his teams performance, Carrey Terrance had a worst plus minus and he’s likely going to be selected in the first 100 picks. They might need to work on their defense but looking at their raw plus minus isn’t going to give true insight into whether they are liabilities or not.

Indeed, they had the worst +/- last season though there's definitely a 'Niagara factor' in play there as 7 of the bottom 10 were Ice Dogs.

An illustration of that 'Niagara factor' might be a guy like Bronson Ride, the huge WSR 2021 2nd rounder, played the front half of the season in Windsor with a +/- of 0 then plays the back half of the season in Niagara where he free falls to -42 or Zakary Lavoie, the 7th overall 1st rounder in 2020, drops from +1 to -25 coming in from Mississauga. A few other guys with split seasons starting elsewhere drop 20-30 in +/- after joining the Dogs (357 GA).

I'd love to see both LeBlancs really break out. I think Jacob will play well in Sarnia and he's played pretty well in the OHL. Andrew, who struggled and couldn't buy a goal here most of his 1st season (6 in 57 games) has showed some progress, scoring 13 goals (57 games) on the worst team in the league and could at least be a contributor in Sarnia too.

Carey Terrance was -38. On a better team, yes. But there were lots of ice dogs in the minus 20's

Andrew was a 17th overall pick. 13 goals in his second full season is terrible. Kevin He was a 2nd round rookie on the ice dogs and had 21

The myth of the legendary franchise just keeps growing and growing.
Killer was asked once if Deboer would make it as a pro coach. He said" Why Not. There are only so many damn ways to move a puck out of your end". In other words it's not rocket science. Yet here we had a unknown "scientist' on the staff. Who would of thunk it? Analytics are great if they show positive results for your franchise. I they show negative results continually what does a team do with that stat? There is no magic potion that wins championships at this level. To increase your chances you need a seasoned coach that knows systems and can make appropriate adjustments during games. Decent scouting is important. Along with great goaltending, skilled players that score timely goals and a massive horseshoe up the wazoo. Once you accomplish these things your team is off to the races.:)

And development of skills - passing, shooting, stick handling, skating.... doesn't hurt either.

and getting the players to buy in and go through a brick wall for him and the team!
* I think my point here is this is what really sunk Chris Dennis. Be it out of respect or fear...best to have both!
I think the new coach will get off to a much better start with a lot of the positions up for grab compared to last seasons non-competitive camp in which the players knew they had the team made and could just goof off and not pay attention.

This is what has been missing here for a while. I like the fact the Rangers picked players in the last draft that were captains. Might find a real leader amongst them. A Mike Richards type player. There are some players born with winning instincts in their blood that can't be taught. Players that hate to lose at anything. I always find it interesting watching the Knights if they are on the losing end of a game. The players seem to hate losing and act out before the last whistle. Old Dale was that type of player and I think his passion effects his players.:)

He did pass on his camel coloured sports coat to Dillon if that's what you mean Ward?
No way......still has another 35 yrs left in that coat (BTW..originally cream coloured but you know...dry cleaning is expensive and you know the Hunters)!
BTW...Ive heard from some Knights insiders that the reason Dale is staying on as coach is so he can pilfers the hotels on road trips for packets of free sugar and shampoo!..Go figure eh! Gave his wife 200 small packets of hand cream for her birthday!

And yet two old retired guys with over a century of vast hockey knowledge amongst them are itching to right the ship. As you once said "a few nose boppers are not bad thing" 😀

Throwing around the word "success" rather loosely imo.

OHL players really need to pay attention to the pros in the play offs this year. No one taking prisoners. Head on a swivel at all times and they still get run over by a truck. You have to be able to skate because it's all about speed and physicality. I would love to see some speed and physicality in the Rangers going forward. Just a pipe dream but why not.

Goons in hockey have been "reimagined" today as grit players.....only these grit players are big, fast, and can contribute on the scoreboard as well as other areas of the game. How many times have we said on these boards that the Rangers have too many of the same type of hockey player and lack the physicality to push back? Hlacar would be a great add to the team not to mention a coach that encourages a more physical style of play. I'm not talking goon tactics but I am advocating good, clean, hard hitting.

This is very true. The big physical players are still out there hitting everything that moves. There might not be as many scraps as in days gone past but opponents know who is going to cause chaos when certain players jump on the ice. There are actually former OHL players in the NHL that really never fought or played physical that surprise fans with their physicality. Guess they changed their style to survive. My point is if the OHL is supposedly a developmental league for pro hockey should it not imitate the NHL to some degree? I think the essence of OHL game has changed with all the new rules brought in over time. The Hamilton GM said one thing they look for in players when scouting is character. Character players seem to be missing from the scene here in KW for quite some time now. A little sandpaper goes a long way sometimes and keeps the fans on the edge of their seats. At the very least wakes them up. The fan experience more boring IMO. Now with all the stoppages for reviews and every one involved in the game looking at tablets fans get frustrated. It's like watching the OJ trial. I do agree with suspensions for dirty unnecessary hits that injures players. One thing I can't stand about the NHL games is all the gambling crap they push down peoples throats. McDavid and Gretzky really need the cash. Some guy or gal on line spending the family grocery money betting on hockey games. Guess it fits the narrative today. Fish are biting , time to concentrate on my float.;)

Do we realistically think we will be one of the two teams to miss the playoffs next year? With the returning players we have at the start of the season I think it may be tricky to truly be bottom 2 bad on purpose unless we move on from some of our higher end skill. But then again it also comes down to how bad other teams will be as well.

Your insiders might have Dale mixed up with Mark. "Allegedly" Mark has the alligator arms that dont reach the bottom of his pockets ;)
But ya both grew up farm kids witb a no nonsense pops.
Ask around bout the story of the old man dropping Dale off in Ktown for tryouts.

Yes they will be worse. They were the 8th seed team and will be losing Pinelli, Arcuri, Constantini, Moore, Zhilkin, Schmidt, Valade, Vandenberg. Then factor in the Rehkopf and Brzustewicz will both be traded sometime this year. Also watch for Martin and Motew to be traded come the deadline as they would be upgraded on many teams over age spots.

The only way that they are better is if a new coach comes in and preaches a team first philosophy and all of the players buy in. That and if Parsons steals some games as well.
