Rangers take a goalie in the 6th round. I like that. Anywhere between round 4 to 8 I’d be happy with their first goalie taking. 8th goalie taking in the draft so still a top 10 goalie at his age. And he could be anywhere from 2nd (the top guy seems ahead of everyone) to 50th best in his age group when he hits 19 years old. Goalies can be tough to predict.

6 rounds, no flyers so far. Big goalie in round 6. Should be a more full rookie camp than usual.

Stark I’m hearing is a flyer. He should of been drafted way ahead of pick 47.

A flyer league wide, but perhaps not a flyer within Ranger inside circles.

Guys like Fine and Gauthier were true flyers. Pinelli and Rehkopf? Not so much.

Seems like Stark may be a flyer league wide only.
Agreed....depending on returnees, there's a time and place for real flyers. This draft or the next few are not, unless near the last cpl rounds then ok.

We’ll have a very strong 07 group to say the least. The first four picks to be sure.

Depending on when we move Rehkopf, I’d expect another 07 1st rounder coming in return.

I think you can only dress 4 16 year olds. So if Rehkopf is traded this season and we have 4 already signed I don’t think they can take a 16 year old back. Maybe I’m wrong?

I think you can dress more if you trade for one at the trade deadline....others can confirm!

Yes, I know it's a temporary or is it?
Remains to be seen but it's probably already more like 'definite'. Brantford is giddily investigating potential funding & sites for a 5000+ seat arena. Hamilton snubbed Andlauer's offer to throw his own $30mil toward building something new at Lime Ridge Mall back in 2020 so that $ plus a few years of casino cash and maybe some Govbucks would get it done in Brantford if everybody wants to get aboard.

Further:

Getting ahead of myself, but:

Looking at teams with strong returning groups who should look to contend next year, Ottawa, Guelph, Saginaw (obviously), and the Soo to name a few, may be trade targets for the Rangers and a possible Rehkopf deadline deal.

In any Rehkopf deal, an 07 1st rounder coming our way is a must.

Ottawa. D-Henry Brzustewicz probably welcomes a trade here. Would Rehkopf waive his NTC for Ottawa?

Guelph. D-Beauchesne, the 4th D taken in the draft would look good here. We’ve had a decent relationship recently with Guelph as a trade partner.

Saginaw. LW-Aiden Young. Already, possibly in trade discussions via Hunter B, would be a good landing spot for Rehkopf being the host team and all. No worries about him waiving NTC there.

And the Soo and Brady Martin. Wasn’t supposed to report there but he’s saying all the right things post draft. Do they actually get him signed or do they have to deem him defective? Does he report with an agreement that they’ll trade him at the January deadline? Or will he just report and be happy there? Who knows. But for 1.5 years of Rehkopf, the Soo may do that deal. Especially when you consider they could move Rehkopf next off season for big value. But would Rehkopf waive his NTC to go north?

I can't see them moving back to Hamilton. Brantford and the team have to dish out a ton of cash to update the rink to OHL standards. Plus the council is supposedly looking at building a new barn to house the team. Didn't Brantford have the Alexanders back in the day and fail to support them? Maybe I dreamt this. Grandkids say my memory is foggy. Many on here would agree.

Rangers drafted two big goalies around the 6'3" mark.

Heaviest player drafted so far is 167lbs. Average height and weight of players (not including goalies) 5’9” and 157lbs through 10 rounds - 9 players.

It’s cheaper to trade for size and grit then talent so I don’t mind it but I’d like to see some bigger players taking in last 5 rounds.

Bigger players with size who are of quality are likely gone by the later rounds, unless they are true flyers.

I think the scouts brought out Spott's old limbo stick. Knock that off your a goner. Owen Sound drafted a few tough big kids with mean streaks. Guess they want to plaster the boards up in the old barn with opposition players. We like to act like gentlemen in KW. ;)

Round 11 another big kid at 5’5”. This looks like a flyer. He puts up solid numbers. Think he is playing US National team next season. Cousin of Logan Cooley.

Regardless, it makes sense calling them "Brantford" no matter how long they are staying. Calling them Hamilton while playing in Brantford is just plain silly.

Definitely remember the Alexanders. If you are a Leaf fan you might remember Allan Bester playing there. Even our buddy, Mark Hunter played there, I believe? As for the arena, I remember travelling down there to see a Rangers "home game" against SSM one year as the Aud was booked, or something like that, or the Rangers overachieved that year. It might have been a game 7 and the Rangers won, and I remember Carmen Vani, in civilian clothes with his arm in a sling, shaking Rick Tocchets hand after the game. So that would make it 1983-84? Those 2 went at it a couple of times per game, it seemed.

We were at that game also.:) Is that the same rink where the Bulldogs will play in? Mark Hunter played hockey! Naw.

Winner of the Steve Spott Limbo contest. This has to be a favour for someone. That is one small player.
Quick question. Rangers drafted a big defenseman from Alberta. It even says he was born there. How did that happen?

Mooney is one of the top USA players in this draft I’m hearing. He would make the team if he shows up.

Kaden Schneider. Calgary hometown. Played his hockey out west this year. How is he eligible for the OHL draft?
Just asking.
