Really like the things VanRyn said in Brown's article today.
"I think the days of the screaming, yelling and intimidation and trying to get players to play better through that are over." Even from the nosebleeds at the Aud you could tell there wasn't any tight relationships between the players and Smith. I'm sure it was beyond obvious to the assistants who were in the room every night. MVR's right in saying kids have a lot more anxiety today and can be a little more sensitive. You can still hold these kids accountable without berating them. I'm old-school and do think it's necessary sometimes, but it was happening almost every game last year and on the bench in front of 7000 fans which is a little over the top in my opinion. All three of the coaches do seem a lot more approachable. I think the more relaxed and confident these kids are, the more production they'll put out.
Was not a fan of the MVR hire immediately, but only because I assumed he'd been 'learning' under Smith, when it looks like he's going to be taking the complete opposite approach.
