Those wondering "This is the best the NHL could do in LA for entertainment??" obviously don't know the NHL's track record with music acts performing at events. Let's just say this isn't the NFL or the NBA: nobody is lining up to play between periods at an NHL event.

I mean, did you see the no-names they had play during the 1st intermission of the NHL's "showcase" event yesterday??? Those are the dudes you have play for a crowd of over 100,000 people?

At least KISS is a rock band and is used to performing to large crowds of people. Come to think of it, they have to be the most well-known band I can recall playing an NHL event...only other one I can think of off the top of my head is The Hives and that is really not saying much.

I totally agree. I had no idea who those guys were that performed yesterday during the Winter Classic. At least at one point Kiss had a huge following, haha.

And no real named artists are lining up around the corner to play for an NHL game. That's just how it goes. And besides, the older fans and younger fans would want to see someone totally opposite. So, to see so many people unhappy with the choice is not surprising.

I heard they really wanted The Monkees, but Davey Jones had the temerity to die on them in 2012, so no go.

Should've gone with a group that represents LA and/or is fans of the team, like Mike Muir and Suicidal Tendencies.

The Briggs? :sarcasm:

I mean, they could have done a lot worse, that's for sure, especially with the NHLs track record. I also firmly believe that there would be complaining no matter WHO they booked so I'm 'meh' about the whole thing :P

if it was 1977 and i was 11 again i would love this, but it's 2014 and im 47 and all i can say is 'are you kidding me'?

KISS is the best the NHL can do in LA? simply awful

Much better then the crap bag that played for the Winter Classic, Kiss should of played there, Detroit Rock City...... game over baby. They would of killed. Kiss is a great band live.

Nah, your being too hard on them...I mean they aren't RUSH or Zeppelin, but they never claimed to be. They always been a decent rock band, it's just that they should have hung them up about 15-20 years ago.

You are probably right. I'm a musician since childhood and a bit of a music snob in general. Kiss just seemed to embrace everything about being a rockstar except practicing your instrument.

Jimmy Buffet would have been perfect. Hot, sunny weather and everyone in Hawaiian shirts!

Eh, I hear you, but I can think of much worse rock bands who have been successful with far less talent. You gotta respect a band (and by band, I mean Stanley/Simmons) who've managed to stick around for 40 YEARS in the music business and still sell tickets.

BUT, I'd have a lot more respect for them if they took the makeup off and just got up onstage and jammed. Seeing a 60-yr old, fat guy in makeup prance around a stage, acting like they are still a heartthrob from 1977 just makes me cringe.

Well I like KISS, and having big-name bands perform at outdoor games is a great concept. Of course they should be local bands. If I was in charge, I would have put in Van Halen, who are from the LA area and play a similar style of music to KISS.

One problem with that....VH doesn't own an indoor arena football team that they are trying to promote....so why would they play for you and your silly hockey game?

Agreed 100%. I think the band yesterday was called Urban Meyer or something. To go from them to KISS is a huge leap. If only Detroit had some sort of rich musical history to draw a performer from and tie it in to the national audience. Nope, can't think of anybody. Let's get these Oscar Mayer boys.

Maybe the message actually is that we don't need some old used to be rock band (that have 3 duck fans in it) or any other band. It is a freaking hockey game, maybe have a mite championship in between periods or a raffle or two and let the fans spend some time getting to know each other or whatever.

No flickering lights or Pejorative Slured "make some noise" crap and no to the need for some who really cares band either. Just freak out at the fact that the technology that is used to create a skating surface has grown so far that they can have an outdoor game in Jan in L.A.

That is enough for me.

Maybe now you guys will learn to appreciate We Are Los Angeles a little bit more...
This is going to be worse than when I accidentally saw KC and the Sunshine Band at Magic Mountain

The music I couldn't stand in 1975 absolutely is awesome for me in 2014.

Not sure what that says about me, but KC and the Sunshine Band are absolute nails.

NWA reunion! Say what you want about them but nobody rocked more LA Kings gear in the 80's than those guys. Maybe do hologram Eazy E?
