Forward “Minnesota” and the Russian national team Kirill Kaprizov got into a difficult situation due to the verification of a military ID. If an NHL star goes to serve, then in the Airborne Forces. This is evidenced by the decision of the draft board, according to the Mash Telegram channel. The father of the hockey player, Oleg Sergeevich, is in constant contact with the commissariat. On Monday, he must come and remove his son from the military register in Ufa by proxy. After that, he will stage again, but in Novokuznetsk, where Kirill is from. Kaprizov has not yet received a military ID and has not been drafted into the army. He got registered as a student of the KemSU, and from 2021 as a student of the RANEPA. The Minnesota hockey player is subject to call-up only from June 30, as the study deferral has ended. As it became known to SE, Minnesota striker Kirill Kaprizov has already returned to the United States from Russia, where he spent his vacation.

Google translate - sorry

Here's the situation. Last month a corrupted military commissariat officer was arrested for peddling fake military ID's These are ID's that can prove you're exempt from required military duty. Faking or using a fake ID is a felony.

Apparently several footballers and a few hockey players have been implicated in the investigation. For hockey -Fedotov, Kaprizov and Karnaukhov thus far.

Unfortunately for Kaprizov, text conversations and photos of him with the corrupt military officer exist. I assume taken from the officer's cell.

Uhhg :ha:

I’m not privy to Russian policy’s, but that doesn’t seem like it would end well. Hopefully he can get asylum in the US

Wait wtf? Is this true/confirmed? Kaprizov was linked to a fake military ID peddling operation? Lol this is bizarre.
To me it doesn't sound too legit, but I've seen the report that he might be in the Fedotov situation (e.g. not buying the fake ID, but just being eligible for the service), so he better waits until he turns 27 before returning to Russia.

Who knows what's happening. Reports are just coming out.

But if he legitimately broke the law, Kaprizov should be held responsible. Noteworthy people should not be above the law. KHLer Karnaukhov has also been implicated so I'm not sure it's an 'anti-NHL' thing.

In terms of penalty, that's where Kaprizov would be given preferential treatment. His military duty would be a joke. None of these guys would ever be sent to Ukraine.

So while he is eligible(under 27 years old) Russia can enforce mandatory service, but once he is 27 this is no longer the case?

Well his dad just said he's going to school. So there's that.

Who knows, this crap is getting ridiculous.

Yep. But again, there are so many controversial reports coming in that even my head begins to spin a bit. One thing that sounds legit now though is that Kaprizov is now already out of Russia.

Thank you for clarifying. When something like this happens people always jump to conclusions. Each country has laws and the law rules that land and is to be respected.

There is a joke in Russia, that the harshness of Russian laws is compensated by those being non-mandatory. For hockey players military obligation laws were kind of non-mandatory for years now, might be just that the times are changing.

Actually, the more I'm reading into this, the more it looks like a stupid rumour. Yellow journalism.

Oh brother. This is wild.

Edit: so there could be a real chance Russian athletes even in America are forced to return back to Russia?

Forced - no, but they likely will return anyway. Just now they maybe will wait until the age of 27.

Well in Russia about 10% of draftees go to army. Rest will bribe doctors and enlisting officers to not go to army.
So in a way he might have broken the law but as you see it is normal in Russia.

Army in russia is for poor people mostly. Their way to get paid and some career.

Most of casualties in Ukraine are from poor Siberian areas and Kaukasus region.

Quite sure these hockey enlisted are political messages. And migh also be these people have said something wrong...

Of course bribery occurs, but that's still a very small minority of cases. There are tons of exemptions to military service. Just go to school or do the civil service thing, problem solved. That's why (if this report is accurate) I have no sympathy for Kaprizov. How 'effin dumb can you be.
But yeah, military is for the poor kids. I suppose that's the same for every country.

(Again, if this is valid) it's not poltical. Kaprizov is just the most well known. The other dudes involved are Vorobyov and Lukin. The the 4th guy, Suleimanov, isn't even playing hockey anymore.

But who the hell knows. Yellow press is everywhere these days. Very little can be initially trusted.

Gotta say, I'm a bit panicked, Bill.

The story has been out for a bit now. I guess my question is, how hard is it to get into contact with him? If it's all bogus, wouldn't he have had his agent drop a line quickly to BG that everything was fine?
