"How long does it take for a Colles fracture to heal? You'll wear a cast for about six weeks. Healing time varies from individual to individual — it's a shorter time for some patients and a longer time for others. It might be a year before your wrist is completely back to the way it was before the fracture."

Blackhawks had him playing 3 months later.
It’s incredible seeing a worst organization in player development then us…

Just the 26th pick would have been an overpayment

13th overall for a 3rd line C at best is absurd
21 years old and 3rd line C is his best?

Aren’t these the same fans who whined about losing KK who doesn’t have the same pedigree as Dach?

Not too confident that this trade works out. The 13oa is too rich for me for dach. But I prefer dach over Romanov. Never really saw the allure in him after his rookie season. Lack of offense with bad defense don't translate too well.
Can we stop talking about the value of the 13th overall pick in the 2022 draft as some type of magical asset? Ffs Romanov is a 2nd pairing D AT BEST and that’s how we got the pick. I make that trade everytime.

Oh f***! It’s a Colles fracture… It can produce long-lasting symptoms of reduction of range of motion, adhesion of tendons or chronic pain… not the best fracture in the wrist for an athlete (hockey)
You think the fact that he started playing fairly quickly after the injury that it could have a negative lasting effect? Or will the summer be a decent enough amount of time to get him back to normal?

I’d guess he needs to do some special training during the summer. Hopefully the Habs are on top of this.

The 13th overall pick from this past draft has roughly a 50/50 chance at being an NHLer (probably less) and even if he does, is likely to be at a similar developmental point as Dach is currently on now at 21, when they're the same age.

The only reason why anyone would think the 13th > Dach is because we haven't had the chance to see whatever flaws that 13th overall pick has yet.

Shiny new toy...

Basically Romanov and two late round picks for Dach, a 3OA from 3 years ago. Nothing egregious there
Would you have given that to get KK who has better stats than him (on average) ? And it is not two late round picks but the very first of round 3, and another one under 100 of round 4.

That and the wrist injury, not confident at all about this player...
A damaged 3rd line center at best if everything turns right. While we gave a young, dynamic, healthy, top-4 d-man.

I'd would have to get Strome from the UFA market rather than trade Romanov for Dach. And I am not crazy about Strome either.

He can easily improve that. He is a better young player than KK and everyone are happy having a KK 21 years old behind Suzuki, Dach is going to be a better player and with the new management, MSL coach, i'm confident that he is going to reach his potential and Hughes//Gorton don't pay Romanov (13th overall pick) for acquiring only a 3rd line C, they believe that he can have the potential to become a solid top 6 player.

I think HuGo will get a certain leash in general from fans.

In these two cases, we're talking about projecting young players. Not every projection works out. We'll have many more lottery picks and trades for young players. We need to wait to see how they do overall. There will be many individual busts.
For sure we need to see more of what they can do.
However, I don't think we can discount the importance of success right off the bat.

Not that it's a perfect criteria, but consider the following: Does the Bergevin regime last even half as long without the initial success we enjoyed?
Now history has shown he had very little hand in said success and shouldn't have stayed nearly as long. But that was likely a factor in extending his stay.

So if too many of HuGo's initial gambles don't pan out, I could see the leash shortening pretty fast.

Assuming Strome would even want to sign here...you're probably looking @ at least 5M per year for him + whatever contract Romanov is going to sign, let's say it's a bridge deal around 3M

Do you think it makes sense for this team to invest that kind of money given where they're at as an organization?

I don't even think they make the Romanov for 13th pick if it wasn't to get Dach.

The trade needs to be evaluated on merit based on Romanov+3rd+4th vs. Dach. Using the 13th pick is a red herring.

Also, Romanov is close to ceiling. No one will argue that he has an offensive upside. He will get more reliable defensively but nothing points to him becoming an offensively impactful. Dach still very much has room to grow offensively.

I absolutely love this trade. We are loaded on the left side and I think a player like Xhekay has the potential of replacing Romy's profile but with more size and nastiness. Always a good thing to trade from a position of strength.

I think we tend to overrate Habs prospects and players. Romanov was basically a better Emelin. Habs brass probably felt that Guhle, Barron, and Harris are better. I find it troubling that you define one player as a third liner at best while the other is an undisputed top 4 D. Last time Romanov was on a competitive team, he was health scratched.

Just because they're both 3OA picks doesn't mean they should be treated as the same. KK is a very ordinary player. He doesn't skate well, he doesn't shoot well as his release is garbage, he doesn't particularly have a higher IQ, he's not great in any particular zone, is very reactionary which puts him a step behind.

Dach has concerns. I'm not gonna try to argue otherwise. But will I put faith in the management to make the right decision and handle him accordingly. For now, yes.

Hopefully he'll work out well. I gotta say, it's pretty exciting to add a player like Dach, and it should take off a lot of pressure from Slafkovsky

Good question! I normally just diagnose those and begin the early treatment. I’m not an ortho or sport doctor, but we tend to say no sport for minimum 8 weeks and the resolution of the ankylosis… but after 3 months, he was probably not at 100% and, if the joint is affected, it can lead to early arthrosis… the type of fracture with a low impact mechanism is atypical too

Reactions: Habs10Habs
I feel like Dach and Slavkovsky, Habs did a great job of getting bigger guys in the line-up.

It drastically changes the nexus of the Habs and give them a size advantage they rarely had.

Add to the the fact that those kind of player will probably make a lot of room for a Caufield to do his job abd by the same fact enhanced him.

I feel like the big if is hockey IQ. They made the concious choice and bet that they could develop the hockey IQ of those players. Because they do have great tools.

You see where the team is going. Now let’s trust that they are right with their guess.

If Romanov continue to improve at the pace he did this year and Wright return to his franchise caliber center form. The moves we made this week-end could look really bad and really fast.

But let’s trust them. Gorton has a good track record for rebuilding team. You can count me as the one with skeptisism.

I can't speak for colles fractures but i seriously sprained my wrist when i was about the same age as Dach and it took about a year before i had no pain while taking a wrist shot.
