I watched a few more videos of Dach

1. He has a wicked backhand. Like really nicd
2. Not a fan of his shot. Maybe related to his wrist injury. Takes a while to get the puck off his stick
3. He’s really effective at using his long reach to keep the puck away from defenders
4. He’s so young yet is able to use his body to shield the puck. A lot of defenders seem to have trouble knocking him off the puck.
5. Defenders have trouble containing him when he gains an edge.
6. His decision making seems to be like 1 second too slow. Like there is a slight hesitation before deciding to make the play that he sees

The tools are there. Good hands, great skater, uses his frame to shield the puck. We’ll see

2 and 6 might be connected.

His wrist injury might prevent him from feeling confident that he can get a pass off with enough power that it makes it to its target in time, if that makes sense.

When I think Kirby Dach I think about 2 things;

If they really believe in him they should give him a long extension right off the bat.

If they manage to work with him and help him reach his potential it would be a bargain of a deal in a couple of years.

I'm willing to believe MSL and our new development staff can harvest the untapped potential he still has. He could be a true top 6 center if we can get him going, I could sure live with that.

Okay, I'll temper them...50 points.

But that need to be at least that.....if the 7th overall is good enough to get a 75 points players, the 13th overall against a 50 points player should be the minimum, right?

Trochek, Danault, RNH, R. Strome...all ''solid'' 2nd line center with 50 to 54 points last year.

I can show a bunch of trade with 40-50 points players that didn't even cost a 1st, let alone a 13 overall, we should at the minimum get 50+ points for a 13th overall. Don't think it's impossible to see Dach jump higher than this, but it has to happen to be worth a 13th.
That 40-50 pts might happen only in 3 years. Nobody expect that end of 2023 season for Dach.

Are people actually suggesting Dach is a bust? lol

THis is a killer trade for Montreal. 6'4 farmed prospect....the 13th overall would have been a lesser prospect with a 2-3 year window.
Who knows for sure about Dach? Depends on witch feet I'm balancing my body, he's a good prospect to explose soon or he's a bust. I'm mixed myself. I don't have enough infos.

I expect that......and more.
He's the same age as Caufield, why in the hell does he need 3 more years?

I think he should easily reach the 40-50 points next year......the question is more if he'll reach 60+ points, that might not be next year but I expect MSL to use him in an offensive role, with either Slaf or Caufield, getting tons of PP time...he'll get his points, they all will.

Last year he had 10 points in 18 games before getting hurt. That's a 45 points pace right there.
This year, wrist not fully back to normal, terrible team...at least that's the thinking.

He big (nevermind that he doesn't use his size) and he skate. The same people who drafted him are the same people who let Caufield fall to 15th overall,
And blindly believed Wright was, and should be, the consensus first overall pick.

McCagg likes Dach a lot.

Thinks he could even overtake Suzuki to be a 1C over him, potentially.
