I think Hughes tops out as a 1B closer to 2C. For the Devils to be successful they will need a better true 1C.

Dude had COVID which eliminated the offseason gains he made, yet, he was often the best player on the ice. My previous statement is backed up by microstats which I posted earlier. Love Sharangovich and Kuokkanen but they are not first liners. Best case, Sharangovich is a 2nd liner and Kuokkanen is a 3rd liner. Neither belong anywhere near a top line.

Completely reasonable. But expectations of an elite scorer are premature at this point. I’m not saying there is no hope for that but I don’t think that should be considered a reasonable expectation.

yes, that is good. I still don't see why he's better than Hughes. Hughes was electrifying for the Devils this season. And not even bad in his own end of the ice. Could definitely improve on faceoffs, but the kid was everywhere. I'd trade literally every player on the Devils before him except maybe Hischier who we can't really assess because he got murdered by Subban.

My point being, even Dach's great season is about the same as Hughes'. But Dach isn't still growing physically and playing on a shit-tier team that has like 3 players over 25.
