Cap space and a slew of draft picks. I think Hughes knows he has to take advantage of Demidov being on an ELC for 3 years
I don't like the options available. Bennett is a good player, but the fact remains that he hasn't even gotten 50 points playing next to stars with a playstyle that isn't durable ,and he'll probably get 8.5x7. Pettersson has had the biggest fall-off from a superstar I've ever seen, and even if I think he can bounce back, he's made it clear he hates dealing with the nonstop media, which is only worse here. A guy like Cozens is more of a winger. It's definitely revisionist history, but not trading our cap dumps for PLD or re-signing Monahan when Evans is apparently only asking for 1.5 million less definitely hurts.

Winning a spot to draft Misa would definitely be a game changer as I think he's NHL ready.

Praying it one day becomes this:

All I can say is thank god they drafted Hage..

Because it just doesn't look like this is gonna work out with Kirby tragically..
Who I f***ing LOVED

But decisions will need to be made.
Fortunately we have the leverage here too

But right now and for the foreseeable future
Kirby Dach is NOT this teams 2C.
Which means they need to fix this problem ASAP.
Sadly, you are correct.

This was the season he had to close the deal. It looked like he might salvage the season with a good second half but if he’s hurt again, it’s over.

The 2nd line center we could take our time getting is now a far more acute need. I expect we’ll see something over the summer. Fortunately, we have a lot to trade with.

As for Dach… he now becomes a spare part on the 3rd. If he’s out for the season again? His career is really in trouble.

Dach should and cannot be part of your lineup next year. And should and could not be part of the future as well. Forget him. Pretend he's not there.

So we are looking at a No2 C. Hage COULD be it in 2 years as I suspect he stays in the NCAA next year. Beck, while he's doing fine right now shouldn't be it either.
Not only I agree, I also don't even think he brings anything back in value, might be worse than Dvorak to be honest. Just trade him next season in some kind of a hockey trade where obviously we have to add a lot in order to get done!

I think quite a few will be available for trade. ROR will likely want out. I see the Flames possibly trading Kadri this summer to speed up their retooling. Utah stink and will likely move Schmaltz as he’ll be on the last year of his deal. The Bruins might need to retool and make Coyle available, also on the last year of his deal.

Why trade him?

He’s got one year left. They’ll give him another year and see if he can salvage his career. If he can’t they’ll just let him walk.
I doubt anyone bites this summer, and if they do it's probably for a 6th round pick....

At this point, try him again next season as a 3rd line but don't really count on him being part of this teams future and core for a run

I think Dach had/has potential. However it's getting to be a bit much. We need a 2C option in the worst way. if Dach comes back healthy and plays well, it is clear he is a 3rd line option.

For sure. Go shopping to find a #2C and let Kirby comes to camp to try and make the team as a winger and/or Center. If it doesn't work out, then we part ways.

I too feel bad for him, and of course it’s not his fault. But I am done with him. That’s the reality of professional sports.
unless you terminate his contract. Long term plan as our #2 C? No. But I don’t see him being traded.

Honestly, I don’t know why any professional athlete coming off injury wouldn’t take time off from games until they’re in REAL game shape. Especially if you have a history of injuries. Don’t know why this isn’t common procedure. Maybe this injury could’ve been avoided

Assuming he’s out for the year, his value would be very little. We’d be better off just playing him next year. If he can’t they’ll stay healthy and play, great. If not, let him play out his contract.

Not much options out there on the FA market. Duchene, Tavares and Bennett are the best, but not sure they'd come here on a bubble team.

Then you have the 2nd tier with Geekie, Roslovic, Granlund, Iafallo, but it's the kind of player your very often signing on big UFA deals

If we're giving up good assets, you'd likely want a younger player as this team might not even be in the playoffs next year. Best case scenario is Duchene on a short term deal, he was interested in us before and I have no issues giving him a shit ton of money for a short term deal.

At this point, we need to move on from this guy. If he is healthy enough to play next year, it should be as a bottom 6 winger. Eating hotdogs in the stands with Pezzetta is also an option.

Granlund is pretty good this year, maybe he's an option for 2 years?

I actually think a veteran would go a long way seeing as how there’s the likelihood of Beck being a full-time centre next season. Probably wouldn’t cost that much. Lots of options anyways.
