Tough bounce. Never hope for anyone to get hurt and it would’ve been a great opportunity for Dacher.

Just really incredibly shitty. He spends like a month and half in quarantine for his one opportunity to play for Canada at the WJC after seemingly erasing his chance after making the NHL (not a bad alternative, but he mentioned on Chiclets how he dreamed of it and made arrangements in the summer to do so). Now to come this far and be 2 days away from the first game and he gets injured in the only pre-tournament game? Fu*k that sucks so much. From a fan-perspective it was going to be awesome to see a player with an NHL season under his belt already, play for Canada (a la Bergeron, RNH).

I feel so bad for the kid. Wanted to be there so badly, and couldn't even get through a game because of a fluke accident. Really hope it's a quick and easy recovery.

and the Rangers were jerks for not letting Lafreniere go... pffff.. looks like a smart decision to me protecting their investment.
I mean if you want to be an ass sure lol Dach was hurt on a completely harmless play. Any player could have the same thing happen to them during practice. Or are you protecting your investment and keeping him from practice as well?

It is definitely not a dumb thing to say and it was the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw Dach's injury. "OK, thank god Laf isnt there".

But it is a little different since Laf won gold last year.

It was a complete freak accident that could have happened in a scrimmage at Hawks camp. It wasn’t a malicious play or something that could have only happened in a game.

Hindsight is always 20/20 with these things. Playing in this tournament unequivocally was good for a guy like Bergeron after an NHL season.

The World Juniors are a very big deal in Canada, I think some of our American friends don’t understand just how big this tournament is here. Good on the kid for wanting to represent his country, he’ll bounce back from this and be fine long term.
