I see how it is, guy gets a couple second round grades and then decides to take a day off... Just kidding of course.

Ottawa's struggling and is banged up (only 11 skaters with another new signing playing his first game today) so hopefully it's more of a precaution since they have a busy couple weeks coming up.

It'll be good to see Wright get a look a little higher up, kid has wheels for days.

I sure hope you mean 11 forwards

I think Hopkins can quite easily sneak into the 2nd round during the draft.
Personally I think his stock has continuously increased.
I agree. Not putting up the points like some of these other guys because he’s been used sparingly and I’d like to know how many touches he actually gets per game compared to other guys like Battaglia, Uronen, Guindon, Miedema etc.

I find he doesn’t get involved enough offensively but is a great 2 way player with some speed, iq and obviously some great potential. He will be a big riser over the next 2 years similar to how sennecke wasn’t drafted 3rd overall for his skill set last year but for his NHL projection a few years down the road.

Next year should take a big leap with lots of our guys gone to the AHL or bigger and better things. Will be one of the main guys.

Hopkins jammed his wrist just precaution at the moment
Glad it doesn’t seem like a long term injury- just day to day that’s alright. Probably don’t need him too badly for this Ottawa game anyways.

IMO he profiles as a high floor low ceiling kind of guy. He should have a solid NHL career but he'll need at least a couple years in the AHL, and I also don't know if he'll ever be a true top of the lineup guy.

I agree. Perhaps 2nd/3rd line at best but still a solid career and maybe he gets 10-15 years out of it. Pretty safe bet he makes the NHL at some point imo barring injuries not sure I’d say that about guys like Ludwinski, Burns, Miedema etc at this point of their own respective draft years.

Probable path-
Here this year and next, and half of his 19 year old season- gets traded to a top contender(and whatever happens, happens) then 2-3 years in AHL then a bottom 6 guy in the NHL to start potentially for a couple years and then around his 24-28 year seasons is his prime and could be a top 2-3 line guy.

Then again- a lot of if, ands or buts so who knows maybe he becomes the next coming of Gretzky or maybe he is a career echler. Will be fun watching him grow over the next few seasons in particular in Kingston though.

Great game tonight, the only downside I can think of is Schenkel's goals he gave up, didn't matter in the end but he seemed to go down early on both goals and gave them up pretty easily. But a Win is a Win

It's early but one thing I've noticed with Schenkel is that he allows goals early in periods.

Tonight it was on the first shot of the 1st and first shot of the 3rd, and in his other starts so far:

Erie - second shot of the 1st and third shot of the 2nd.
Soo - second shot of the 1st
Sudbury - first two shots of the 1st and first two shots of the 2nd
Soo - second and third shot of the 2nd *(8 mins in).

Obviously the early goals in the 2nd and 3rd aren't ideal but giving up goals on either the first or second shot in his last 4 games seems to be a pattern.

Sure maybe….but nobody stopping the 2 shots tonight, they were perfectly placed shots. Goalies let in goals- it happens, but making the timely saves when it could change the course of a game is key, and the past 3 I think he’s done that.

What a game by the fronts.

Guindon 8th in league scoring, Battaglia 11th, Uronen 16th.
8-2 in their last 10 games, definitely rolling in January but it's very tight with 2 points separating 1st thru 5th in the East
Fronts are currently the least penalized team in the OHL right now.

Agreed. And add in the fact that he should not have faced the two shots they scored on at all. Meaning look at the plays that led up to the scoring chances. Yet again both turnovers inside the offensive blue line by 88 and 15. It's non-stop. On the first shorthanded goal 88 got stripped trying to dangle someone even though we had control on PP and there was no need for it, the 67's got the clear and then we come right back down and he throws a blind pass from inside the blue line right up the middle for the breakaway. Then on the second goal 15 has guys all over him on the wall inside the blueline, could have easily just put the puck deep but held it until he was stripped and odd man rush the other way. Happens way to often with these two. Yes they are two of our more skilled and better players that we definitely need going, but the number of turn overs they have in those spots is a problem. You would think the coaches have to be addressing it with them bc it's constant. Ya we might get away with it vs a team like the 67's but those turnovers lose games vs London, Oshawa, Barrie, etc.

What great game by the boys overall though. It's going to be exciting.
