Nice to see Schenkel get his first win. Not the most exciting game ever but out dominance, Soo wasn't really able to get many great looks.

I think McGowan might be my favourite player in the league, the guy is so dynamic and explosive it seems like he goes from 0 to 100 in a split second.

Several steps of separation but I've heard the split with Lalonde wasn't pretty. Something about him travelling up with team to NB but no knowing he was being traded, then traveling from NB to Soo with Kingston after being traded, plus Cooper brushing him off when he came to the rink on the morning of the NB trip.

To me, trades like Lalondes are really bad GM practices. If I am correct, Cooper had to do a sales job to get him to come to Kingston.

If you are working on a trade for a kid like that, you should have the decency to let him know so that he can pack up his kit in case he does get traded to the Soo.

instead, you are sending A kid to the Soo with just the clothes on his back and maybe a day or 2 extra.

Not a good look.

Is Schekle going to be the goalie that you need down the stretch?

Great win last night. Just took care of business and held them to under 20 shots. As the new look team finds chemistry I think they've got a half decent shot of climbing the standings a bit down the stretch.

Also really like Landon Wright's game. Good motor, a hell of a shot....what a pleasant surprise for a free agent signing.

I agree. Love the effort from last night. Once all the lines get going it’s going to be a hard team to stop.

absolutely love that pickup. Hopefully they can convince him to come back next year with all the guys we lose.

Great game by Schenkel. That’s what we paid for. Last few minutes of the game came up clutch too with a huge stop.

Great game by the team. And to think they’ve only had a handful of practices together too. They should get better and better as the season goes on.

I love the line of Guindon, Uronen and Battaglia finally together they have a #1 line. I called that back in October/November but they didn’t have as many bodies back then as they do now to do that and they had to spread them out. I found Soto very engaged and that was one of his best games of the season, same with Miedema. Willis with a multi point effort- his first as a Frontenac.

Powerplay was good too. Love seeing that. They struggled for about a month with Uronen and pieniniemi at the world juniors.

Dervin is going to a good one. Wright is very quick.
Absolutely both are pretty fast. Dervin I believe is more far along development wise but Wright is quicker. Hope that they can push Wrights NCAA year back one as he would be great and get his chance next year when half the team goes. Belleville boy so I’m sure it’s not out of the question

Remember in Aug when a bunch of people here thought Guindon was a big overpay and not a 1C and i said i think he puts up 80 on this team? -He came as advertised imo.
I remember someone saying "lets revisit this in nov or dec and see how that goes when i said it.

I really hope some NHL team gives him a shot in the A.

I said 75-90 points with the higher number dependent upon being L1 & PP1. But I as well as some others do not think of Guindon as a true #1 centre, imo those are Ritchie, Protas, Beaudoin & Wakely, maybe Procyszyn & Luchanko.

I kinda get where you're coming from but at the same time by definition since there's 20 teams, there's 20 1Cs. Even if we take out the bottom quarter of the league because there are definitely teams that don't have a "true" 1C, there still should be 15 1Cs. Is Guindon a top 15 C? I would say absolutely.

You think only 5 teams in the league have a 1C? Thats a pretty wild take.
Wakely is not a good FO guy at all. He's an elite OHL forward that struggles in the circle but people overlook it because he puts up 100Pts

And among the best defensive centres, and wins board battles coming away with the puck; and Wakely really does make his linemates more effective.
All teams have a L1 centre. In any given year there are 7-10 of what I would consider true #1 centres. They are the centres that give their team the positional advantage 5vs5, PP, & PK.

Absolutely heard some people even question him hitting 50 and not goals- POINTS! Goes to show sometimes people on here have no clue what they’re talking about

He will likely surpass his career high next week sometime.
Definitely more then capable of being a 1C and probably better defensively then everyone mentioned but Ritchie to be honest.

I agree. We knew we’d be getting strong defence with ceddy but what I didn’t expect is for him to be at an almost 100 point pace midway through the season. I thought he’d be a 65-80 pt guy so I’m happy he’s doing better than I expected. Very happy for him and hope he stays healthy (knock on wood) and continues having himself a strong season.

NCAA will be great for him. Maybe play there a year or two and get a contract with an NHL team. Or perhaps gets an AHL contract after this season.

Most players I’m sure would lose hope after going unsigned going into their OA season but it’s the opposite for him.

That doesn’t seem very objective. Protas is a couple of tiers above Guindon. Among OA centres I’d have Fimis & Wakely > Guindon, Thomas, Loshko, Delic. That is some pretty good company to be in imo; and well worth the 2,3,4,5 picks.

I was looking at their schedule - it's one of the most jam-packed schedules I can remember seeing. The Barrie re-scheduling is a major factor but even without it's pretty condensed.

Starting with next Thursday's game in Saginaw, they play 7 games in 11 days in 7 different cities between Jan 30 and Feb 9.

They're under .500 on the road (technically over .500 by points % but that's thanks to the loser point) - of the 6 road games in that 11 day span I think they have to aim for 8-9 points.

Still a week away so not to dig too deep into it but I didn't realize they haven't beaten Saginaw at all in the last 5 years - hopefully they can kick that, although it feels like a perfect time for Weir to get his first OHL goal against Kingston LOL.

If I remember correctly Battaglia was rated in the 50"s but drafted 2nd round. It all depends on a teams needs and if some scout likes you a lot. I like Hopkins game and I hope next year he really takes off. There is a lot of options on this years team for point producers, next year not so much.

Next year with lots of the guys gone I think he really starts to take off. Will be an even better player at 19 too.

He may have been in the 50’s for North American skaters, but the comprehensive listing was 68 or so.
