Hmmm, coach must've missed that, seemed to be getting regular plus more minutes
Why don't you go back to trolling Owen Sound fans.....I was in Oshawa last night. I can say that other than Thibs getting time on the PP2 they didn't see the ice much in the 2nd and even less in the 3rd.

Defensive little fella? Nothing to get too worked up about. You sound like a top 2 line kind of guy. I was referring to the 4th line not the 3rd. I was there too, too bad we didn't see each other!!

I'm actually all about the 3/4 lines if you must -- cause that's where I toiled in my day. Defensive all day long - as well as petty and I hold massive grudges.

On a positive note last night was one of the stronger games i've watched the Fronts play this season.
Vaccari once again started off horrible letting in 2 goals on 3 shots and the team battled hard for him.
He was pretty good post those 2 goals to start the game.

Schmidt looked like he didn't miss a beat. -He is much better offensively then he gets credit for and thank god this is going to reduce UENS ice time...-This team is much better when they can keep UENS /McGowan on the bottom pairing.

Maleek has noticeably lost a lot of weight and muscle from his flu bug he had. I've been told he lost 15 lbs. -You can tell he has lost a bit of that physical edge he used to have.

Burns also played a well disciplined game (this is equivalent to a Lunar eclipse frequency wise)
This kid has so much potential if he can learn to keep his emotions in check.

All in all this team when healthy has a chance to surprise some teams in the east.
It was great to see Generals Live resorting to blaming the refs last night because he was all out of excuses. (Yes they were without Lockhart their OA Canucks drafted forward that was not good enough to earn his ELC contract) -Shocked that never came up.
Does anyone know what Lockhart did to get scratched 4 games in a row?
I agree with everything you said. Also that’s interesting about McGowan- that’s the first time I’ve heard that.

You see the ohls post about Lockhart? Police involved with him.

Heading to the Leon’s centre for the first time Friday. Looking for recommendations for somewhere to eat before game and somewhere to get a drink after the game.
ideally close proximity to the arena
Free or paid parking?

I sure did. I knew police were involved but don’t know what happened detail wise as they are keeping it very tight lipped

I recommend going to Lone star before game which is about a 5 min walk from the arena by city hall.

if you’d like to pay 5 bucks there is a parking lot right outside the area off of Wellington street by the courthouse- you’ll have to use debit or credit to get into that one but it’s not used by many. If you don’t wanna pay the 5 there is a parking lot right beside it with parking metres- I usually chance it, however if you are coming from out of town- to save you the hassle of potentially getting a ticket I recommend paying. it’s usually really full so make sure to get there an hour before the game. There’s also a parking lot directly across the Leon’s centre off “the tragically hip way”

absolutely. I don’t remember the last time the ohl outright said there is police involved with a player- pretty serious. Not to speculate but people on gens board said he’s been getting sat the last 4 games. Schmidt and his little incident with Lockhart happened 6 games ago. Perhaps Schmidt found out whatever he did and wasn’t too pleased. Would explain why big schmidty acted the way he did.

I would love to be the proverbial fly on the wall if Thidodeau gets drafted. The first thing teams are going to tell him is that he is to listen to his OHL Coach, the team scouts, his agent as to what he has to do to improve. I would not even think he will see an offer sheet until just before the deadline s that the team can monitor him.

Pro

He can score
He is fast

CON
no defensive skills
small
listens to dad

I also thank people for pointing out that while Kingston is not the GTA ( a plus in my book) the organization has not been one that has developed a lot of stars. Looking at the NHLL right now the biggest flop has to be Shane Wright. Part of that may be his but I also think the fact that he did not have a coach to guide or develop him in Kingston is also a reason. He read the press clippings.

Mann's status is going to be an interesting point this draft. Agents may be looking to the Fronts for what their succession plan is for coach.

I don't think he has done enough to get offers this summer but if he can change the team then expect he might get them next summer.

I am sorry but in this day and age I think all teams have to have some sort of system for their coaching.

As to beating Oshawa great game i hope they can put a few more together.

Parking is tricky since they took over a couple parking lots to build a condo. that being said, you could get lucky and park in the lot across from the Leons (soon to be Slush Puppie Place). There is also a lot behind the Ministry of Health / Court House that is about at 2 min walk to Gate 1.
Restaurants....There are lots of very good places to eat that range from moderate to expensive. That being said, if you don't want "chain" type places (Lone Star, JAck Astors, Milestones) there are some personal faves down there :
-Red House Kingston
-Duke of Wellington
-Harpers Burger Bar - it's a pricey burger but quite good
-Kingston Brewing Company
-Woodenheads - really good pizza but it's small and maybe tough to find a seat on Friday night.
-Phenom Phen if you like Cambodian/Thai
-4 or 5 sushi places just 2 blocks away from Leons centre too...but no recommendations from me as I don't eat sushi.

Don't think you need to worry about being that fly

I second the lot behind the Ministry of Health building - I think it's technically paid city "event" parking but I've never gotten ticketed there. It's gotten busier recently but I've been driving down right around 6:50-7 so if you're there earlier you should have tons of space.

As for food - I'd echo the Iron Duke and Kingston Brewing Company - the KBC is one of the more unique vibes because it's littered with beer memorabilia and has excellent BBQ food - but they only have craft beer and in-house beers so if you're an old school Coors/Bud drinker it may not be ideal.

I'm also partial to the Toucan - decent but unspectacular pub food but I find it has a pretty cozy atmosphere.

The options are probably the best part about Kingston's location - TONS of food options and you can easily walk around for 15-20 minutes and take a look at menus/see what fits what you're looking for.

Wright had injuries and a Covid year and isn’t far off averaging a ppg in the ahl at 20(turned 20 in January) he still has a bright career ahead of him he just needs to stay healthy. I’d expect him to jump to the pros next year.

Also it’s not Kingstons fault for if players take the pedal off the metal once they graduate on from their hockey club lol. However they do then is solely on the player and hockey club they move on to.

I believe you’re 100% right with Mann. Although there’s been some injuries and suspensions to key players they have been performing at a 0.500 clip all season long which is completely unacceptable. They have a really good team on paper- good depth, just can’t seem to put it all together or something.

Maybe the reason why ludwinski wasn’t traded at the deadline is because of how peteborough was last year where everyone thought they’d be atleast a top 2 team in the east and I believe they fell to 4th or 5th? Then look at what happened with them. Good coaching, good goaltending and players buying in and they win a championship.

I think the key difference is Kingston's goaltending is pretty weak.
Michael Simpson carried Peterborough through some absolute grudge matches last playoff.
I do not feel like Vaccari has the ability to do anything close to what Simmer did last spring.
Maybe his numbers improve a little with the D being healthy but i still feel like goaltending will be a let down come playoffs.

I still wonder what Guelph was thinking here.

Maybe Kyle Downey comes in and plays a game or two - steals a game, stays in the net. Stoufville is only 1 point up on 9th place ... so could be a missed playoff year and he become available. I think Mason has the ability to elevate - he just needs to avoid that early goal - because I think he gets down on himself and it takes a while for him to get back out of it -- sometimes to the detriment of the team and a 3-0 by the end of the first of the other guys....saw it almost in Oshawa Tuesday - Quick first goal and he took the rest of the first to look more adjusted.

I haven't pulled the stats but i think you are bang on with him giving up those quick couple goals on ALOT of occasions. -It's seems to be a regular situation where they are digging out of a hole early.

Vaccari isn’t having as good of a year as last year in the sense of stealing games. But he’s still above average goalie in the league imo. It’s just like people saying divinctiis is trash this year, is he or is the situation around him trash? Is his personal life affecting his play? Lots of things come to factor into this. Hopefully vaccari figures it out as he is a huge part of the team going forward.

I still wonder what Guelph was thinking here.

Prob banking on budnick keeping those numbers up while being an amazing shot blocker, good leader and defensive d man.

That trade never made sense to me but maybe they were banking on his numbers improving while coming there or atleast staying the same and then coming back next year for the oa season

For the game tonight this is huge- over the last 5 games Kitchener is seemingly struggling. Fronts have been as well for the most part minus the 10-0 game. Looked good in Oshawa on Tuesday- need to come out with a win here. Play back in Kitchener in March and it’s never easy to win there.

I have a feeling that Kitchener will find their game again and we could be seeing an ugly one...hope I'm wrong but not feeling it.

What a game today vs Kitchener- way to go fronts for winning that one. Also what a goal by miedema and tip by McNamara in the final couple of minutes

I'm not liking how the early goal against is seeming to be a trend with Kingston but I love how they stuck with it tonight.

I'm not sure how sold I am on this teams ability to beat the true superpowers if the league but if they play to their potential they should be a contender to have a first round upset depending on who they play.

I’d like to know the record of the team when they have all the key pieces in the lineup like Holmes Schmidt ludwinski burns etc. I’m sure their win percentage is a lot higher than with them out. They just need to stay out of trouble with suspensions and stay healthy and they have the team to make a push, they have the coach to make a push- no reason why they can’t. It’s just all about if they actually put it together when they need to the most.

Great game tonight though as Kitchener has more points and wins than anyone in our conference
