I'm not sure how true it is - someone else may be able to speak more to it - but I've seen previous comments that his dad (ex-minor pro) is in his head quite a bit and may be feeding him advice that goes against the coaches, although that may have been more when Caputi was around.

His Dad was an Ottawa 67. He is working the back channels to help his old team….

His dad is one of the worst i've seen after games in the hall. Some parents are just happy to talk to their kids. He is an angry man

NHL mid season central scouting is out -- 4 Fronts in list of NA Skaters 37- Frasca, 56 -Battaglia, Thibs 115 and McNamara 219 (or something...)
Find the pdf in the article
Quite happy with Battaglia's ranking and I think he'll continue to grow, but I am totally confused how McNamara made the list over Soto - Soto has been so much better than McNamara...

Also pretty surprised to see Chromiak completely off the list - I knew he had fallen a fair amount but to not be in the top 224 skaters is quite the drop-off.

age, 1 more year to develop, not sure soto deserves to be on though

good to get the win. I went to the game last night and sat 3 rows up. I hear alot about Uens, but I don't know if it was because I was almost at ice level, but man he looks so scared out the. Nervous with the puck and timid of the body. Battaglia looked great and Ludwinski too. Thibideau had at least wo assists on Petes goals. 1 in the first in Petes end that ended up in our net 5 seconds later, and a perfect pass to petes D from our corner in the third which they went d to d and cameron buried. That was his last shift. Guy is a turnover machine . I didn't thikn Frasca did much either. Good job by heyes and poole, they are 100% all the time and a nice shorty for poole too. 2 points for us and on to tonight
I agree about uens. I think it’s because he’s so small afraid of getting hit that leads him to do costly turnovers such as passing right in front of the net to an open opposing team member

Poole and Heyes always bring it. Very important for our pk.

Soto's draft year was last year..
I don't know why Mcnamara made the list.
Soto imo has really improved his defence and is a lot more aggressive now. Probably some of the things he worked on in the off-season. This off season if work on speed, hands and shot. I think he can be a 90 point guy in this league

McNamara probably due to his skating abilities and size. Could be a project pick for 4 years down the line.

2nd time around you rarely make the list. It's focused on the 17 year olds / 2006 kids
rarely but it happens, Trent Swick Kitchener on it 2004 born, Misa Miss 05, Paquette Guelph 05, just to name a few, I bet 10% would be 05 on the list

Some late birth first time eligible such as; McCue, Misa, Paquette, others I’m sure. Romani second time at 81, VanVliet ‘04 at 86

Absolutely LOVE that Mann put miedema on the third line. Hoping he wakes up tonight- and it’s Oshawa which is a team he seems to do well against so I like the odds of that happening.

Interesting having 2 natural centres and 1 that has played quite a bit of centre all on the second line.

Burns and Schmidt will be one hell of a pairing they’re gonna play atleast 25 mins each tonight.

Third d line although it is inexperienced I think the play styles should work. Velliaris is a stay at home d man with good speed and size, Williamson is more of a 2 way/puck moving d man. Together they should be fine.

67s definitely should win this game. Fronts didn’t get back to Kingston until 1am last night and Ottawa is well rested.

Played Oshawa but yeah you could tell. Especially in the first period there they really came out flat. Hopefully the same happens to Oshawa on sunday

Chris Thibodeau needs to be benched. I'm not gonna pretend to be any kind of scout because I'm just some dumb drunk in the stands, but I have never seen a more selfish player at this level. The skill is there obviously but there's no brain behind it and all that matters is personal production.

I know it's only been two games so I'm hoping once the synergy build it'll improve but I have not been super impressed by Dubois so far - not a ton of offense generation.

This may seem weird to say but I don't know if I could point to a single player that had a great game, on either side. I was thinking in my head I hadn't noticed Lockhart until he scored, Sennecke was invisible but so were 3/4 of the Fronts so I don't want it to seem like I'm just ripping on the Gens out of spite - this felt like a boring game with no standouts.

I'd need to see replays but I thought a few of the penalties were weak on both ends - and not likely by coincidence, I think every penalty was called by Senuk - it really seems like this level is too much.

I'd be curious if anyone with InStat could comment, but I don't think Velliaris played more than 10 minutes - he looked a little shaky on the puck at times but he seemed pretty sturdy defensively and was more than willing to engage physically.

Last comment is that I want to see Hopkins get a chance in the top 6 - drop McNamara to the 4th with Poole and Heyes, and figure out somewhere that Hopkins can have a chance to shine.

Jacob Battaglia - I think it’s astrocous he was not invited to the Top prospects game. I found out tonight he is the first substitute player if someone is injured prior so he can still potentially get a spot. (Hat trick and 4 pts tonight)
Battaglia is the 4th ranked RW in the OHL this draft. Overall he is ranked 56. That is not nearly high enough to be playing in the prospect's game. The only way he would make it is if the game was in Ontario and someone get hurt at the last minute. He is just plain not that good expect him to go in the 4th round at best.
I don’t know if he’s been pulled this year. Maybe once but Mann usually keeps him in for the minutes regardless how bad he is playing.

Again- he is young and I’m hoping his game grows a lot here in the second half. If it doesn’t I don’t think he will be on the team next year. They might go and draft an import goalie to split the games with vaccari
Frasca and Battablia should be playing together on the same line now so that next year they are ready to step up.

As to Slajko. He might not have been pulled but I can assure you that it is on his mind when you look at the workload he is getting as well as the importance of games.

Beast, sometimes you are good at staying in the know reading people’s comments and the box scores…but other times you’re way off.

Battaglia is a player I think you would really enjoy watching…it’s too bad you are so far away! He is a stud and I wouldn’t be shocked if he is a 1st round pick when all Is said and done. He has decent size, good edges, good hands, and is on pace for 35 goals at 17. He also needs to stay on the top line as that top line has great chemistry together, and he is a top line player now (forget this stepping up next year crap).

I’d argue that Jake Oster had an excellent game. Specifically, with that glove save on the 2-on-1 late in the game and also with the breakaway save. Oster has had some disasters this year but over the past month he’s been incredible and was definitely the best player on the ice tonight.

As for Thibodeau, I was watching him specifically tonight - - although it’s much more difficult to do so when watching on television as opposed to being at the game - - and what stood out to me was how easily he gets bodied off the puck. Someone mentioned this earlier in the thread today so I wanted to see for myself. And it’s understandable because Thibodeau is so tiny and little. Owen Griffin is the same way for Oshawa - - he just gets tossed aside by opponents. Both need to desperately add some weight and strength in the off season. Lockhart is the same height as Thibodeau but WAY sturdier on his skates and not easily dislodged off the puck.

Regarding Sennecke, he’s really cooled off the past month since the brain trust decided they were going to stick Griffin on his line. It’s like having a kid from bantam trying to play on a top line in the OHL. He’s flat out not ready to be playing at this level and his utter lack of production - - ONE (1) pathetic assist for the season - - despite all the time he’s had on the top two lines and power play is proof of that.

But you can see the pro level game that Sennecke has even when he’s not putting up points. His skating is so smooth, definitely at an NHL level already. Stick handling is also very good, although he’s been getting a bit too cute with that lately. Biggest thing for me though is how he’s not afraid to forecheck and grind along the boards. You don’t see that often with guys that have such high finesse skills.
