Kings Win 5-3; RP Is Sweet, Not Salty

I've seen some posts nipping at his heels after last night, which is mind-boggling. He, Gaborik and Lewis were running rampant in Calgary's zone every other shift. Lots of aggressive possession, lots of shots on goal, he exahausted the Flames into a sketchy line change that provided Nolan with space for his howitzer. Great game from him, and all the forwards to be honest. Even more honestly, all the forwards, except Stoll.

Good to hear he was agressive and not a sleepy turnover machine, hope he scores soon.

The original question was "is nolan playing his way out of Sutter's doghouse?" I sure think so.

As far as being the perfect 4th liner, he's been bad more than he's been good, but he CAN be that guy, he just needs game-to-game consistency. He has all the right tools for the job and if he were to continue his play down the stretch that would be an immense boost for a fourth line that's merely existed all season.

Didn't post it last night but God damn, those uniforms are awesome.

Maybe it's because I didn't become a fan until 1993, but apparently I'm one of the only people who think the gold home unis are ****ing abominable and an eyesore. So be it :)

Haha,

Nolan scores a goal plays a few decent games, and all of a sudden the guy is a perfect 4th liner....

He has been garbage for the entire season pretty much, outside of the last two weeks.

If Nolan has a few months playing this well, that's actually something to brag about.

Not a few decent games, were he isn't completely useless.

I never said he was the perfect anything. I just said he has the tools to be a solid 4th liner. It appears that he has had an attitude problem this season. I think that when Nolan puts forth the effort he can be a pretty tough customer for the opposition to handle.

Question is are he and Sutter seeing eye-to-eye. Sometimes a kid finally quits fighting it and does what the coach is asking of him, the rewards come from the coach, and the guy will play even better.

Nolan can have an important role on the Kings next season if the cap gets tight.

One positive about Nolan is that he's now at least putting in the effort SOME of the time as opposed to never. He's had some effective shifts and even some effective games. For the longest time he'd offer absolutely nothing, not being physical but also being weak on the puck, followed by sitting out for long stretches and again showing nothing when he came back. It's a step in the right direction but he still has a long way to go before he's back to what he's shown in the past.

Glad the refs were on our side. It seems that the Kings had nothing called against them, while the Flames had every call go against them. Glad I mailed the refs each a $4 check Now I just hope they don't bounce.

I do love how we responded to the adversity though. I was starting to get worried that it was like just about every other Calgary game this year where we drove them into the ground for 98% of the game but they just buried their few chances. This one was especially dominant, but those goals against are such a microcosm of this season...one crazy tip on a PP that never should have been, one goal on a third rebound with goalie incidental contact, and one on a defenseman turnover in our zone. Things that can be and should be ironed out if we want to live thru the rest of the season.

I mean, think of all the missed chances, too...Carter was getting robbed all night, McBain's empty net...and minus Monahan firing one over the net, they buried just about every good look they had. You have to think their luck will tail off and ours will come around more at some point. But again, last night's game is why I say they're smoke and mirrors.

First step would be getting the rotating gong show of bottom sixers off one of his wings. Put brown or Williams up there and let them stick.

It was working. The last two road games, Brown was the best of the 3, and what does Sutter do when we get home...take Brown off the top line and replace him with Lewis. Lewis has no business on the top line. :shakehead

I don't hate them, but I don't love them. I think the purple throwbacks are 1000x better than the gold.

The way they've been playing lately, neither do Kopitar and Gaborik.

a.k.a What do you mean? Lewis wasn't skating with Carter/Toffoli/King.

Oh God.. don't get me started on cars. I've had too many. I figure it was either that or heroin.

First it's the car. Then exhaust. Then headers. Then tires, wheels, and springs. Then coilovers. Then lighter bolts and lugs. Then better tires. Then new wheels. Then different seats. Then a cage. Then Schroth harnesses. Then...

It never ends.

To me, owning an automobile just means constantly having automotive repairs.

Pain.

Yes, you are.

No, he's not. The gold unis are fun on rare occasions but we would be the laughing stock of the league (again) if we wore those full time.

My biggest problem with them was it was really difficult to tell the players apart or read their names. Must drive the announcers crazy. The purple unis are cool but the gold are a clown show.
