Kings Win 5-3; RP Is Sweet, Not Salty

It's a good morning indeed! Always nice to wake up to Kings win and going through GDT thread.

How was Slowpitar? No points, i see, but was he alive?

A win is a win, and they finally did score a bunch on a bunch of shots, but those 3 goals against on 18 shots makes things so needlessly complicated. I know chances are different than shots, and it seems like they're giving up as many chances with 20 or fewer shots than other teams usually get with 30 shots. If they can keep scoring 3 or 4 goals every game though, then it won't matter too much.

It's hard to have a rational discussion about that on this board. You have a vocal few who inexplicably seem to believe Quick is falling apart. And then then you have the majority which freaks the hell out at that and claims almost every goal he let's in was the fault of someone else.

The reality is somewhere in the middle there. With better D, yes, obviously Quick's save pct would go up. But he's also struggling. That's plain. He's not making that big save when the team needs it sometimes, and that's cost the team points.

No, he's not awful. But guys like Lundqvist and Price have carried terrible Ds, so I dunno. Quick is definitely not chasing a Vezina this year.

Honestly nervous until the final buzzer with the way these games against them have been going. Glad to get the W.

Good to see more wins on there and a few in a row.
Still play San Jose and Vancouver 3 times each this year. It's going to be tight.
I got my ticket to April 9th game, and am pumped.

Does anyone else need to state the obvious? Ok, I'll do it: Important win. Finally we won a goddamn home game against the Flames. I can't even remember the last time.

PS: What kind of rocket does Jordan Nolan have?? I didn't know he had it in him. He already scored in Boston, now again.

Didn't post it last night but God damn, those uniforms are awesome.

Hell yeah!!!

You should see them in person. My God, they are beautiful...and so are the reverse purple and gold.

I just don't understand why we have to live with this hideous logo and the non-committal black and whites when we have these in our catalog. A lot of fans were wearing the vintage unis too. It's the way to go...back to the future.

He has it in him, and his skating speed is unappreciated as well. He just doesn't get a lot of ice time on that fourth line. Guy brings a lot to the table here but fans just want to play fantasy hockey and trade the guy. He has value and a lot of fans don't get it; just like they didn't get King and want him gone too.

P.S. Don't hear a lot of clamoring to get rid of King lately on these boards. Wonder why.

Always use those jerseys on the NHL games. They are so sweet, so happy to see them used again

From where I sat last night, the first goal was deflected on a power play where he had no chance to get it, the second he was interfered with, and the third was as a result of a turnover deep in their own end.

I can't fault Quick for any of those. Without the mistakes and the interference, it's a shutout performance. So enter my name in your spreadsheet column titled "the majority that freaks the hell out."

I agree, I am not a fan of our current set. The jersey set right now will be the one that most people think of when they think of the kings as these are the ones with the most success.
I don't like how frequent LA changes it's logo and colours. A brand takes time, and IMO changing so frequently hurts that brand.

IMO one of King's best skills has always been his board play. during the 2012, it seemed like NO ONE could take the puck away from him along the boards. he seemed to regress a little bit in that area after we won the first Cup, but i think he's back to form with that right now, which has been great for Carter/Toffoli. defenders latch on to King on the boards and Carter/Toffoli can get into position for a nice pass in the slot or just above the dots. i think we'd miss that if he were gone.

As I said yesterday an aggressive style like Quick's will lead to more contact (purposeful and not) as he comes out to challenge shots. Quick will not always get the call so goals like that are going to happen. That said I would rather have quick and his aggressive style than not

Lets be objective for a second. Nolan has played well the past few weeks. But prior to that, i think he was playing his worst hockey since getting called up in 2012. Nolan can be effective when he skates, hits and puts pucks on net. But the few games he was in prior to the past two weeks, he was pretty bad.

I'm definitely not a King hater. I get what he brings to the team and he is an effective player. He has definitely turned it up a notch the past couple weeks. The recent play of guys like Nolan and King is exactly what the Kings needed. I hope they continue that for the next few months.

I'll give Nick Shore credit for looking much more like an NHL player than Andreoff but I still haven't seen much. Granted, he could easily replace Stoll's (black) hole next season. That ain't sayin' much. And that sounded gross. You have to pay the troll toll if you want to fill Stoll's hole.

Nolan has been a disaster this season, the last two weeks doesn't erase that.

This was a must win game regardless of what players say. The Kings couldn't afford to lose last night's game.

Kudos to hard play, three in a row. Need to keep the playoff train going.

I've seen some posts nipping at his heels after last night, which is mind-boggling. He, Gaborik and Lewis were running rampant in Calgary's zone every other shift. Lots of aggressive possession, lots of shots on goal, he exahausted the Flames into a sketchy line change that provided Nolan with space for his howitzer. Great game from him, and all the forwards to be honest. Even more honestly, all the forwards, except Stoll.
