Not sure it's the smartest idea to provide motivation to the guy who had 10 points against them last year, and bounced them out with a hat trick the year before ...

You honestly think Patrick Kane cares what some community manager tweets about him?

Yup, pretty sure Patrick Kane doesn't need any more motivation. Dude's a winner. Just keeps killing the Kings; L.A. just has to work on the rest of the team so the Sharps and the Toews don't kill 'em too.

Its unlikely that Kings will win it again, it's just too many good opponents to just assume it.

IF and that's and IF, the Kings DO get into the Playoffs there is not much reason to call them an underdog though.

It's a rather common phenomenon for athletes to be motivated by the opposing team talking trash.

Do a Google search on "sports" and you'll probably find some useful info on the subject.

LOL this guy. Went right over his head...

I think a few teams in the west got better while the kings have gotten worse, I think they are a playoff team but I highly doubt they get out of the west, may be good for a first round upset tho..:.

I personally would enjoy watching them knock sharks out again

Canucks have a couple of games in hand, but Kings Canucks, Sharks, and Flames are not exactly poster boys for great hockey but still fun..:handclap:

If the Kings could win half of their skills competition games they would be 2nd in the Pacific, and have same points as Hawks

The beauty of the playoff's no skill competition

And if I won the lottery, I'd be a wealthy man.

Let's call them loser points just like we do for everyone else. No different for the Kings.

They seem to lose a lot of games in OT as well which shows their 4 on 4 play could use some woek, its not all SO's.

Shootout wins don't count in the SC playoffs.

Good thing the Flames haven't beaten the Kings in a shootout. 3-0-0 with 3 ROW wins vs. LA this year.

Right, I forgot since the Flames won two games in OT that means the Kings would've won in the playoffs because they're playoff gods.

Meh.

Chicago couldnt win in OT or the shootout to save their lives last season. Went on a deep playoff run marked by plenty of OT heroics.

The Kings underlying stats are strong. If Lombardi is able to shore up their D, they'll make the playoffs and do damage. Good luck to whichever sucker wins their division and meets them in the first round. What a fantastic reward for all that hard work to come in first.

Still banking on Blackhawks vs Kings III in the WCF this year. All this game proved to me is that its going to be another war.

Hey now, the Kings didn't win a game against Chicago until game 2 of the conference finals.

Yeah, it really is a shame that the Flames are going to dive in the standings and the two teams won't be able to face each other in the playoffs.

Maybe next season. One can only hope.

There is still plenty of time left. And as I am sure you know, all the Kings have to do is get in.

You can win all the games you want in the regular season, but what really counts is how well you do in the playoffs.

You aren't getting afraid again, are you? Care to start Gibson in game 7 again?

really? the West is that bad this year? because LA's been stinkin' bad this year...ah well

That has more to do with the weak Pacific division. The 2-5 Pacific teams (San Jose, Vancouver, Calgary, and LA) are all 14-17 in the league right now. All 8 Eastern playoff teams and Central playoff teams would be second in the Pacific division

To the OP:
As far as future bets go (am I allowed to talk about this here, btw?), LA at 24/1 is superb value. I think its foolish to think they wont make the playoffs, and if they do there are two, maybe three teams in the west good enough to beat them in a best of seven - Chicago, Anaheim and maybe St. Louis. The Preds are good, but I take LA in that series. No way Kings lose to SJ, Van, Win, Col, Min, etc. I think the clear west favourite is Chicago, then Anaheim. But Chi is getting 9/1 and Ana is getting 8/1 or 13/2. I don't know what to make of STL in general (9/1), but I'm staying away. If gambling were legal (which it is if you gamble online on a site hosted outside such restrictions), I'd put 3 betting units on LA and 1 on Chi or Ana (but not both) to hedge for the cup. In the east, the best teams (Islanders, Pens, Habs, Bolts, Wings, Bruins and Rangers) are somewhere between 11/1 and 16/1, which to me is a much greater crapshoot.

A rookie goalie choked in a game 7, shocked.... but you would more likely get Andersen seeing as he is our #1.

You are not in the playoffs right now, so you would be lucky to get either, anyway I welcome an early round match up vs the kings if they make it, much more afraid of teams like Nashville, san Jose , Winnipeg and Dallas

Did not realize they play 4 on 4 in the playoffs in O.T:laugh:

But I will agree the Kings just do not do well against the Flames. Happens a lot in this league where one team has the number of the other.

I think last year the Flames won the season series too.
