Went to the game, few thoughts.

Most noticable players on the ice, Weal and Sobourin (sp?). Weal was all over the place, shame he is so small. And Sobourin was hitting everybody and had the nice fight in the first.

Best player on the ice....Vey. Such a smooth passer and controls the game well.

Most NHL ready...AA. Reminded me so much of Stoll in the first, had the Stoll vs Nucks snipe to start the scoring. Then added a nice Stoll penalty in a scrum...

First line for each team was pretty dominate, but the Kings was better and produced in all facets.

Forbort....I'm not sure if his size leads him to be more aggressive, but a few times he got burned bad initially but used his size to make up for it. And speaking of that size...the Ducks didn't know wtf to do on 5on3's when he was out there. Looked like the whole back side was open then he would reach across the rink and break up the pass. Completely killed the backside pass they keep trying.

Both goalies were better than I thought they were gonna be. The one goal looked to be the fault of slow reaction to the rebound by the defense.

Kitsyn reminded me of Penner..(not saying as a negative)

Zykov started alright but kinda faded.

Defense seemed somewhat weak. But that was for both teams, not sure if these types of games are the best for judging them.

Forgot to add, really surprised they were able to fill the whole lower bowl. And that the actual majority was Ducks fans...

Went to the game, felt like I was in Staples center with the amount of Kings fans and lets go kings chants during the game.

Great game, but I had to explain to the non-hockey fans I brought with me that NHL games aren't usually this sloppy haha

I have to wonder if the Kings were purposely trying to lose the shootout with the random player choices.

Was at the game.

Liked the play of the first line like everybody else. Love to see them look like they did out there. That line's got a ton of chemistry. Someone that i didn't expect to stand out was JORDAN WEAL... holy moly he was flying out there and basically on top of the puck the whole night. Deslaurier played a nice safe consistent game, Credit to Deslaurier who also put in a goal as well as anticipate well killing a lot of the 5 on 3's.

Niederberger also had a nice game. Was also impressed with Kitsyn and to a point Zykov. Forbort looked a bit inconsistent. Sarbourin had a lot of feisty energy early but it died out towards the end. Anybody know why Kozun wasn't in the line-up?

Honestly, I though Niederberger was a bit lucky to make it out of the third with out letting one in. He looked very frantic/scrambly on a lot of rebounds, and seemed to have trouble following the puck after the initial save. I thought he was one of the weaker goalies there...
Then again he was in net for the only full two minute 5 on 3 wasn't he? Gotta give credit for that.

Think I may have to head out Monday as well...

FINALLY!!!! HOCKEY!!!

Fun game. Most annoying, other then the OC kid screaming "skate it" every time the ducks touched the puck was at the end when the ref threw Andrehoff in the sin bin to prevent him from kicking some duck butt. Really wanted to see him fight.

The kid yelling "use the shoot button" during the 5 on 3 at the end of the game was amusing. Ducks were terrible on that power play.... passes were off and prevented one timers.

I mostly was excited to see the competition between Vey and Andrehoff for a shot at the 4c position. It was a toss up. Andy has the energy/gritty side for sure, but with that comes penalties. Carcillo/Andy/Nolan line would be hilarious. The second coming of the Hansons.

Zykov sure plays hard. That kid is all effort. Worked his ass off, no question in my mind that hes gonna make it.

I thought weal looked great. And then everyone ud expect to look good did. pearsons great in front of the net. Toffoli was dangerous. Veys solid.

Did you sit up really straight and try to block his view?

Weal tried to, but Dean could see right over the top of him....Seriously though, Weal has great wheels, but just like when I went to the two game rookie tourney in Phoenix two years ago, he tries to do too much. Great speed and stick handling, but reminded me of the point guard who doesn't ever want to pass the biscuit. It was a lot of effort, but no results.

Vey is the most polished Kings prospect, smoother than Toffoli in a many ways, including skating and puck handling. Vey made a brilliant pass to spring Pearson for his second goal. He is definitely an NHL'er in my mind.

Didn't notice Kitsyn as much as others, thought Zykov had a lot of spunk and battle in him, I think we are really going to like this kid in a couple of years.

It's funny, Pearson I thought struggled controlling the puck until he scored that nice deflection goal, he settled down and play well after that.

Besides Vey, (and Toffoli, a given) agree with others that Andreoff looked the most NHL ready of any prospect for the Kings.

If Vey or Andreoff were not make the team as an upgrade over Fraser
it would be an upset.

Both Kings goalies played well, especially considering the amount of rubber that came their way.

Seems like the entire Kings prospect D corp is left handed. No shortage there. No threats from this group to make the big club this year.

Biggest surprise of the night? The size of the crowd. It was clear the Honda Center officials were not prepared for the amount of people that showed up. Let's just say concessions and parking were less than adequate. But hey, it was free. In my estimation, the crowd was 8000-9000 range. Kings were well represented with I would say close to 40% of the crowd, maybe a little less.

I wish the Kings would host the second game at Staples or better yet, Citizen's Bank Arena, that would have been perfect.

The place was half full, I was surprised as well. I can't imagine how Monday will go with only 1/10 of the seating available and parking.

I thought Vey, Pearson and Andreoff stood out for me. Toffoli had some grade A chances but didn't finish.

I liked Deslauries on D. Also, Roach is big and played a gritty game, I heard he is a decent scrapper...was waiting for him to fight.

Sabourin is our future Parros/Westgarth but can body check better than both.

Like I've been saying since we drafted him AA is the real deal. Plays like Rick Tocchet.

Somebody asked DL today at the HOckey Fest about the chances of Vey, Pearson on Andreoff making the team and he went back to something he feels strongly about that they are 'young kids' and need to 'full develop' before coming the NHL. Not to say one of them won't make such an impact that DL or DS will add them, but DL historically doesn't rush the players to the big club. Although I would love to see Andreoff or Vey make the 4th line this year. I'd take a show on one of them over King or Nolan or even Fraser.
Glad that Bob Miller noted that tomorrow's rookie game will e streamed on Kings vision with play by play . Iwatched last night's game but it was hard to see who was doing what .
Having play by play will make it better to follow.

I just don't ever see Weal making it here. He's never going to be. Bottom 6'er and he's got guys like Vey, Andreoff, Pearson and co. in front of him.

Great atmosphere and a great game really. I saw a lot of the same things you all did. Vey man, that kid is special. His vision is stupid good. As a fourth round selection...just looks like another Dean Lombardi gem. I really like Weal. Just a great effort but I can't get over his size, and like someone else mentioned he almost tries to overcompensate for it. I pull for him but I don't really know what the reality of him making the NHL is. He's got a long road.

Well I had a blast at the game tonight. It was nice to see a beatdown of the Ducks in their own building was just awesome.

A few players that stood out to me was the Pearson-Vey-Toffoli line. They all were above the competition all night. Andreoff had a hell of game. He's making a strong statement that he wants to make the team. The one that really suprised the most tonight was Weal. He was all over the place making plays. I thought forbort had a strong game, but I think a year in Manchester will do wonders for him. I liked what I saw from Leslie. Doesn't back down from anybody.

players that I thought had a poor game was Roach. It looked he didn't know what he was doing out there. Constantly turning the puck and holding on the puck for too long. Miller was inconsistent and he would make some good plays then take a dumb penalty or something like that. I thought Nic Delauriers had really strong game. I thought Kitsin played fine, not great. I'd like to see him use his body a little bit more.

To continue on AA. I think he has a really good shot at making the team. I think very well could take Fraser's job at some point.

Roach wasn't impressive. He seems to read to game alright but his skating needs to get a ton better.
