Any chance Ladue gets in over Greene ? Seems like hes doing real well and he played 26 mins last game plus has the lead in minutes for defenseman this game i believe . Also Gilbert seems to be doing well hopefully he can regain his form along with Setoguchi . Im starting to get my hopes up again . I should stop

Meanwhile, Edmonton fans haven't been wowed by Lucic yet, as he appears a bit too slow to keep up with McDavid. He was pretty invisible for the Kings as well during the preseason (and playoffs), but got things going during the regular season.

Let's see how long it takes until they regret that contract.

Anyone else getting excited and starting to think maybe it won't be so bad this year?

Two smallish puck movers on 2nd pair? No way.

Auger scoring ugly goals makes me happy.

The fact he can score despite (in my opinion) completely lacking technique in his shot is astounding.

After reading what Sutter has said and gathering what's happening at camp and preseason, the blueline to open the season may appear to be...

Muzzin-Doughty
McNabb-Martinez
Gravel-Gilbert

Greene and Forbort will likely battle it out for the #7 spot and probably have the inside edge over Trotman and Scuderi.

LaDue is getting a long look but he'll be a top pairing guy in Ontario next season. Given that Gravel does not have to clear waivers, the Kings may take advantage of that and rather than icing the best blueline they may find any means necessary to retain Forbort and have him penciled in for the 3rd pairing LD spot.

Stevens, on whether the team has been impressed with Devin Setoguchi:
I think so. You’ve got to give him a lot of credit. I didn’t know him that well. I know he’d been out of the league for a little bit and didn’t really know quite what to expect [from him], but to his credit, he came in here in very good condition, ready to go, and wanted to put his best foot forward and try to win a spot back in the league. I think for me, you get excited when you see a guy approach it like that. He wasn’t just coming in here not prepared – he’s obviously prepared, and he’s going to give himself a chance to perform well, so it’s good to see.

Stevens, on Nic Dowd:
Well, it was obviously a much improved game for him tonight. It’s a good step for him. I didn’t get to see the game live when he played the first game, so this was my first time seeing him. But I think when guys get back on the ice, they’re not as sharp as they want to be. Hopefully they elevate their compete level and their execution comes along with it. But what I like in Nic tonight was the goals he scored – he was intense and willing to go to the hard areas around the blue paint, and that was good to see.

Holding the puck while out muscling guy to the front of the net and being able to maintain control while the goalie gets out of position is a skill! Especially at the AHL/NHL level. Do you need that good of a shot if you're standing in the crease?

Some of those goals were nice.... Seto absolutely ripped that shot, Dowd looks like he might be able to find/finish garbage around the net. Brown spun off a guy to get some space and didn't miss the goal!!!!!

How much do people think Setoguchi is going to cost? 1 year prove it deal around 1.6-2? More? Less?

Setoguchi won't be getting more than $1M from the Kings. They don't have the cap space. If they offer him a deal it'll likely be a one-year contract to prove himself. It's not a bad idea to lock him up considering we don't know how long it will take for Gaborik to get back into game shape. He looked great at the World Cup, but an ankle injury means he'll be staying off the ice until he is fully healed.

Signing Setoguchi wouldn't be a bad insurance policy as he won't cost much and won't cost the team any assets (other than minimal cap space).

I was gonna say, that definitely was not an ugly goal. And I guarantee you power moves like that make DL/Sutter fall in love with you.

I said he has no technique in his shot.

And maybe ugly was the wrong word; greasy/gritty is more appropriate.

But the guy lacks a shooting technique. Which is why he needs those dirty/greasy goals.
