Bar room brawl in London with Perry ?

Went to the AM group session. Not going to comment on the established core, as they all looked fine.

Adam Cracknell looked pretty good out there. Skates well, big body, was scoring on nearly every shot against the goalies.

Brayden McNabb is a pretty big kid. Skates well, looks composed, gave off a sense of "Yeah, I'm gonna make this team". I'll wait to further analyze him until I see him in game action, but DL gave up 2 big assets to get him, and IN DEAN WE TRUST!!!

Didn't really notice Andreoff, but he was usually always on the other side of the ice from me.

Everyone else was just normal, didn't see anything that was glaringly bad with any of them.

HOCKEY IS BACK!!!!

Awesome, Kopistar! You're a superstar. It is hard to get details on camp. I'm particularly interested in the new guys & Manchester ones. I like to hear about their growth as players and eagerness to prove themselves.

As expected and discussed in the previous Mike Richards thread, he's been bumped up to center Williams and King with Stoll taking center between Lewis and Clifford.

This is what I expected to happen. The Kings have quite a bit more invested in Richards than they do in Stoll, and this is the role that Richards needs to be able to successfully play for him to be an option going forward. The days of a second liner are probably in the past, but if he can be an effective third line center his contract is manageable.

Stoll does provide some nice insurance and depth in the event that Richards plays like he did last season, but you have to figure that Stoll may end up in the same situation as Mitchell after the season, just caught in a numbers game.

Everything Nolan shot ended up in the net, had one shot from the slot that bounced off a couple of sticks and in. He Stood out in the little I saw today.

Thank you for this!

So who makes it out of camp?

Zykov on long shot. Clifford/Richards/Zykov could be an interesting combo if King/Richards/Williams doesn't work (like last season). Zykov may not be 100% ready, but as a 4th line sheltering him shouldn't be an issue. AHL isn't an option here so out side of burning a year on his ELC and needing a roster spot there isn't much downside to calling him up.

Andy probably (550k)

Shore, makes (900k), his cap hit may require moving someone in the 1M range. Clifford/Lewis/Martinez.

McNabb is pretty much guaranteed a spot. Trading for someone then waiving them would be epic.

I think Schultz/Cracknell are waived for the AHL

Gravel may be another long shot... he played well in the rookie game... can't wait to see what he does against better competition.

Whoever said this was a boring offseason is right. I'm a lifetime Rams and Kings fan. The offseason is our super bowl.

The most exciting thing going into this season (new toy) is McNabb. I'm really stoked to watch this dude.

My arbitrary chance meter says the following on making the team out of camp:

Zykov 0% (Not ready, he is going back to Juniors)
Andreoff 60% (He is still going to have to impress a lot, waivers or not)
Shore 0 % (No room at the inn, will have to wait to see if Stoll is re-signed for next year)
McNabb 90% (He would have to be pretty bad not to make the team I would think based upon what they gave up for him)
Schultz 10% (I just don't see what good it does to have 8 D)
Cracknell 40% (Sutter seems to like him, if Nolan is moved, good news for Cracknell).
Gravel 0% (Does not have an NHL contract, only AHL, they will need to see him for a year to take a look)

Trades and injuries obviously can change the parameters.

Can someone clarify something. Everyone keeps saying we gave up sooooo much for McNabb. Wasn't the trade McNabb and 2 2nd's for Fashing+Nic D. Fashings value was more than a 2nd rounder, so wouldn't the reality be McNabb was traded basically for an AHL player and the difference between Fashings value on the 2nd pick and what it was?

I remember a lot of people saying that they weren't happy we parted with Fasching, but who is saying that we gave up too much in getting McNabb?

The two 2nds were great - I'm not upset that we lost Nic D. He came a long way but still a big question mark on defense. Fasching might or might not pan out, but it'll be a few years before anyone knows.

Who said to much? I'd argue the Kings really didn't "give up alot" for McNabb, which seems to be the catch line everyone throws around. I'd argue the 2 2nd's was the center piece and McNabb was just an add-on. Similar to Nic D.

Yeah not much going on... some hockey tomorrow though...

Nic D and the 2nd's aside, imo trading Husdon is the "so much"

the kid had a tremendous Frosh season and WJC. if he continues to build on what he did last season the kid is shaping up to be a top 6, perhaps top 3 in BUF. honestly i think the kid looks very special to me.

he has that rare combo of size, hands/skill, good to very good speed and will play physically. he has virtually every tool in the box and doesn't appear to be a one or two trick pony. he showed that he can beat a defender multiple ways.

think of what DD and Kopi bring to the ice, each guy can play different styles and beat the competition. Fasching is the same type of player, but only on the college and WJC so far. he still has a ways to go, but as a true freshman last season he was destroying kids that were 2-3 years older than him.
