Byfield needs to play and play often. He won't much if any PP time nor PK duties. Now to figure out who's best with him. Grundstrom,Kupari,Fagemo and Chromiak are my picks with Iafallo a possibility

Trading a player for future considerations basically means a team is giving him away. Sometimes not because they want to but they have to. Yes the receiving team will have to take on $2.65M in cap space for 2 years. For a team that have it, and they need a marginal (but may yet improve) RHD for nothing but cap space. Are there teams out there that are capable of taking this salary one - for sure.

Now don't tell me about "poor asset management" trading a player like Walker for nothing. Unfortunately for Walker he got a serious injury and Durzi, Spence and now Clarke happened. For Blake, he can't be gun shy about this.
I understand what future considerations are. My point is that the cap space isn’t trivial for a player that may not move the needle for a team all that much. Most teams would much rather look at their own prospects at this point, not to mention it’s another contract spot. There are many more factors at play than just giving him away. As I said, if hes not good enough for us why expect anyone else to want him… they may do but it’s not as simple as saying Blake should get off his arse.

Looks like they decided to go with 14 forwards and waived Moverare instead of JAD.

Kind of knew they would send down Moverare over JAD. The real question now is JAD or Kupari as the 14th forward. They will probably keep up Dolan but Kupari doesnt have much to gain in the AHL. His game needs to grow vs NHLers.

If that mattered to them, Blake would've done something about it by now.
What do you mean like make room for him with a trade? I think Blake is happy to have a lot of depth and make use of players not needing waivers. Im sure he believes Kupari is an NHL player. Injuries will happen and hes next man up. Hes just at a point where the things he needs like consistency cant really be taught outside of an NHL schedule against men.

Bottom line is: JAD and Clarke made the Kings roster. Kupari and Moverare (if he clears waivers) are being sent down.

Any LHD on that list? Too lazy to search…Blake might keep an eye out for one…
Mike Reilly on Boston would be worth a look, but the problem is CAP space. He makes $3 million. Kings would have to trade Walker for a draft pick or prospect.

Problem I see with vilardi is if he doesn't get consistent playing time, which is very possible with this coaching staff. He won't get into a rhythm and we're stuck getting vilardi of last year
Yup hopefully he doesn’t get stuck on the 4th line playing 8 minutes a night with plugs. He should absolutely be getting first PP minutes but you know lolfallo with still be on the top unit just like we saw last game even though he shouldn’t be anywhere near the PP.

Some of y'all need to step off the ledge, omg byfield was invisible in one pre-season game. He's a bust. Get a grip people

And I know some people probably aren't paying attention or don't care, but he was pretty dominant in the face-off circle all camp, the rookie showcase and preseason. Being over 50% in that aspect of the game is going to improve possession on its own.

Invisible?? Pretty sure most of us thought he looked pretty good in his first two preseason games….then he was sick for a week and last night was his first action in awhile.

Yeah, Byfield was fine coming off being sick for a week. Iafollo is another story. He looked like he phone in the preseason and was trying to lose his spot.

I’m not sure what people were watching yesterday that could make them decisively say he needs to be in the AHL. He was undeniably an NHL player out there. He and Gabe had a couple good plays offensively, he was winning faceoffs (as you mean mentioned), and he was plenty fine in the D zone. Byfield line had the most high-danger scoring chances yesterday.

The dude played a strong rookie tourney, even if the points weren’t there, showing improvement in areas like puck protection and defensive reads. He plays a few games early in the preseason, only one of which is televised if I remember correctly, that are solid. Then he misses over a week with an illness (so, yes, for those who prefer knuckle draggers over actual hockey players, he was literally “invisible”) and still comes back and plays the as-described game above yesterday.

But yes, let’s send him to the AHL for inscrutable reasons.

But if that was a prime concern, they would've gotten rid of someone. But Blake knew who would and wouldn't need to clear waivers. We know, so it's not a secret. If Kupari ends up in Ontario again, they seem to be ok with that. Blake built the roster knowing that. Same with Walker and the rest of the D. What? We still have Sean Walker on the payroll? Why didn't someone tell me?

If Kupari beats out Byfield, and Byfield needs to go to Ontario, they don't care. The last people they're playing favorites with is the young guys.

That's good to know. I didn't watch the game I was watching college football. But are people forgetting the TMc interview where he said he expects to play Byfield 15 to 18 minutes a game? 18 is pie in the sky but he's not going back to Ontario FFS. Ridiculous.

The other thing to consider is that it does appear QB is using a longer stick and given it’s looks to the naked eye to be quite a bit longer he’s added more than 1-2 cm. That will take some time for him to adjust to and most of all it’ll affect his shot… unless we are all just imagining the change.

I’ve been pretty happy with his camp. I also think that of all the players Vilardi had really stepped up. He has definitely done enough to warrant some quality minutes and it’s imperative that Kaliyev, Byfield and Vilardi get good pp time. I’d be fine with the second unit as long as the two units get a more equitable share of the minutes. If you give them Clarke also it could easily be a better unit than the top line.

If we lose him it’d be a shame but they have Spence and Bjornföt ahead of him in the depth chart so we have good cover.

If Kupari is going to be the 14th or 15th forward it’s better to send him down so that he stays active.

And what a Shit-Show Blake created in Ontario. Might as well have a split squad one for the road and one for the Home games. Blake really knows how to build a franchise up

Either Iafallo adapts to middle 6 role or the ECHL for him. Maybe Chicago will have him for a Kings prospect

What's the shit show? I probably wouldn't have signed Tynan, and probably wouldn't have re-signed him, but define what the shit show is.

After making the Kings and playing quite a few(57) games in the NHL,Kupari was looking good. Liked his speed and the fact he's a Right shooting center. He played all forward positions at some point. Wouldn't want to be the chap to tell he's going back to the Farm

I agree he has a strong case, but the competition is fierce. Talent wise Lemieux is the odd man out but he brings something different. It’s certainly going to be hard keeping everyone happy.

A Shit-Show is when there are too few jobs and way too many players vying for said jobs. I guess LA can wait another season or two with most of their prospects. However most of them have nothing to prove in the AHL, so it becomes 12-14 players for 1-2 NHL positions in the not to distant future. And that's not counting the Defense where Walker and Roy are set to become UFA's in less than 2 seasons.
