While I hate quoting myself, since I just saw this after I posted, it's relevant:

Spence and Bjornfot sent down. So, that narrows things a bit. Either they go with 8D and Moverare is the 8th D. IF they do that, then 3 of JAD, Andersson, Kupari, Byfield, Kaliyev, Grundstrom or Vilardi will still have to be sent down.

IF they go with 7 D, then:
- one of Walker/Moverare/Clarke is out.
- Only 2 of the aforementioned forwards would have to be sent down.

Not this is again assuming Arvidsson comes off IR by the time rosters need to be submitted.

Good analysis. I saw that twitter - doesnt change much.. Russel M incorrectly assumes this means Clarke is sticking. RV may start on LTIR.. that could delay having to waive guys they may lose like Walker. If RV is ready and they dont want LTIR then id waiver Walker and either he's picked up or they get a little cap relief and let him work his way into a trade by killing it in the A. One option also is putting QB in the A for awhile to buy time for a trade - esp if he struggles out of the gate. Not my favorite option - but its there.

Jones and Bernier are dime-a-dozen guys. Bernier is a career backup who was given a starting opportunity (due to his draft position) a few times and failed. Jones was a bad-to-mediocre starter for a little while and he's now a backup.

The only quality starters out of that group are Quick and Campbell, and I predict Campbell will struggle in Edmonton.

There was a time under TM/Sutter when almost every goalie we threw in net had success. There's your correlation.
What makes a successful goalie coach to you ?

Just saw the highlights. That forecheck and pass by Grundstrom that led to Kaliyev's goal gave me wood. Hell of a shot by AK too.
Grundo needs to get some top 9 minutes

Thank you, I agree. Though I think it's looking very good in Clarke's favor he'll be getting some NHL games in the regular season, but we expected that. I think there's good reason to believe he'll stay up in the NHL, simply because while I have levied criticisms towards management, they are cognizant enough to think that he won't benefit much from going to the OHL.

It would be a risky but cheeky move to waive Walker. As mentioned, teams may not feel comfortable claiming him if he has to take up cap space with his injury history. @Herby also mentioned sending a player down on a conditioning assignment. But 1. the player has to agree and 2. you can probably only get away with it once, as a commissioner can rule that it's being leveraged to circumvent other rules.

I would be very dismayed if Byfield were sent back down to the AHL. I think there's a better case for Kupari, and even then, I feel he's earned a spot.

What day do the Kings need to be down to their roster limit? Will they put a player that has to clear waivers put there a day or two before the deadline to see if we can slide someone back to Ontario if needed?

I could be wrong but my calendar says the 10th

Why does that matter? CapFriendly is exceedingly accurate with this type of stuff.
because sometimes they aren't?

I'm not saying this is one of those times... I'm saying presenting information without full context is presenting information without full context.

So players aren't actually sent to Ontario until the organization announces it to the public? It's a simultaneous submission of paperwork to the league and announcement to the fans? Your fellow Kings podcaster doesn't seem to have any qualms with the information:

He's also presenting information on CapFriendly as if it's an official team release. Which it isn't.
Agreed - he shouldve preceded that comment 'Per capfriendly' .. but he's twitter blogger not working for a publication .. maybe he gets a pass

It's only preseason, so why not. Long term, I don't like moving any young player who has such high potential on one side of the ice to the other. Why would you want to neuter a player of high potential by forcing an opposite side move early in his career?

Alec Martinez was a vet and he looked garbage on his off side next to Muzzin. Hell they both looked garbage together. It took Marty a good amount of time to get used to the right side. Anyway, I'm sure if it does happen it's going to be a short-term thing. The Kings should be clearing the decks to make sure that Clarke plays in his natural and preferred position permanently. You move one of those journeymen RHDs to the left before you do him. Like with Walker.

If you want to keep Clarke (assuming no IR to start), you're going to have to waive one of Andersson or Moverare

Who cares?

It's a 24 year old AAAA forward or a 24 year old guy who's ceiling is likely a 6 or 7 d-man.

They can't let the risk of losing guys like this have any bearing on the decision on how to handle arguably the best young player in the organization.

Oh, I don't care. i'm just stating the obvious. i'd waive both of them and be done with it.
