I guess I just have a hard time understanding that there isn’t a team who thinks that Walker would be fine especially considering the fact he’s 27 and likelihood of him being good to go is high since he was young when he sustained the injury.
Even if he was fully healthy he would have little to no value.

Would you trade assets for Troy Stretcher, at 2.65M, coming off an ACL? That's Walker's value.

It’s not really about wanting a player in return. If so a goalie would do. But even moving him off the roster is a net plus because we have better players looking for a spot.

But you need another team to make a trade, regardless of what it is. And the Kings currently have 6 goalies under contract. And they're unlikely to send him to Ontario, where they've already sent Wagner down, again. Another $3m for an AHL guy, it starts adding up, even though money shouldn't matter. If Blake was planning on moving him just to clear a roster spot, it probably would've happened already. If he was part of some Chychrun trade to make the cap work, that's a different story. Just to open a spot? That probably has to happen in early July.

It's like the Kopitar thing. People have been saying, well, it's not that Kopitar has been a bad player since re-signing, it's that his contract wasn't right for the Kings. If that logic works for the Kings, it works for every team. Just on a much lower level in this instance, since Walker ain't no Kopitar. What team wants to invest $6.35m into Walker? Assuming that Blake wants to get rid of him. He'd be easier to trade, assuming Blake wants to do it, if he had just this year left(like Kulikov). But he has another full season, at $3.35m in cash. Not knowing what he'll be in his first year back from a year long injury, it's a hard cap league. That cap giveth, and it taketh away.

Walker and a pick to Buffalo for future considerations could make some sense

Sabres need RHD. Walker needs to go to a place that can be patient with him while he tries to get his game back, plus Buffalo has plenty of cap.

Exactly the cap space (& cash) is the more valuable. Also you have to consider that it’s a player we don’t want blocking our younger ELC from developing, so why would any team want said player when he’s not going to move the needle and most likely blocks their prospects from developing. if we don’t think he’s good enough for us then it’s not as simple as just trading him. Its more likely he gets picked up on waivers or gets included in a bigger deal.

Teams are moving away from these sorts of signings which is why more and more the generic bottom pairing and 4th line guys are signing low UFA contracts. I say that with all respect as he’s a solid NHL player but he’s no more than that. He’s definitely not a second pairing guy (as a LHD) on a play-off team. Bjornfot is always the better option there

Not derail but in terms of Cognac what do you guys like ? I think Hennessy Privilege is very good but I want to stop buying it and try something better

Enough of the Whiskey crazy talk…

if you like a more rounded whiskey go with Balblair 12 Year Old. If you like smooth it’s Tamdhu 15 Year Old and something a bit more punchy go with Bruichladdich Classic Laddie (you have to scan the QR code to get the age, I never bothered).

If it’s not made in Scotland forget it. Go try them… you can thank me later. All reasonably priced.

Back on topic, were they on the ice Saturday? Any feedback? I’ve lost track.

Edit: Never mix a good whiskey BUT if you have a cheap single malt add Drambuie for the Whiskey cocktail know as a rusty nail. If you have a blend use Irn Bru (no idea if you get it in North America) as a mixer, they are a marriage made in heaven and it’s basically the Scottish National Drink. I’ve converted my English and Polish friends.

I’m a peat bomb lover myself, fun one for a Kings loss that isn’t as common is Lagavulin 8. Bites a bit more than its well-known 16 year cousin. For cask strength folks I’d recommend any Laphroaig cask strength.

I think that's the best bourbon at that price point. It might even be my favorite period but I generally buy the cheaper version because I'm frugal. I also drink too much.
to think I came for hockey and got hot bourbon talk....

Any woodford is great and the double oak amazing.
For the frugal non peat scotch fan- Dewers 12 and Dewers 15 are amazing- 23 for the 12 and 35 for the 18.

For Irish fans....this stuff worth seeking out. downside is its a .700 ml bottle so smaller than tradtional 750s but worth the price.
