GDT: Kings Training Camp 2022/2023!

The bad news = Kings org clearly doesn’t care about the 5 severely depressed whiners who are on suicide watch over not seeing a preseason game live from the 909 that sounded to be one of the most boring games ever.

THE GOOD NEWS = Since every single game from this date forward of the ‘22-‘23 season will be televised, we won’t have to worry about these HF board pages being populated with this nonsense for an entire 12 months! Yay

I hope you are getting paid by the organization dude. Seriously though, you are calling fans wanting to watch the games depressed whiners, yet you are out hear defending an organization valued at a billion dollars for not putting in any effort because they didn't do it pre internet? I mean, imagine how much fun it would have been to actually see the game while calling everyone else a loser or a fake fan?

I think the players that the Kings can afford to trade are Bjornfot, Lias, Thomas.

I don’t think the Kings should close the door on Vilardi. He has great vision. Probably the best from the prospects. I think Kupari HAS to have a spot on the team. He’s extremely good. Don’t know why he has such a short leash.

The amount the Kassian crushed him I’d be surprised if he had a shoulder left
This^^^

I just want to know why you are expending so much effort defending the organization for this of all things. Like, how many posts have you made the past couple days telling people how lame they are for wanting to watch the games? I wanted to watch last night, but instead watched the Flames game. I didn't complain on here(I did make a complaint about the lack of an AM station, but that's a different story), but it just seems odd to be superior about not wanting to watch the prospects play.
You dare criticize the multi-billion dollar corporation?!??!? How dare you expect them to do something that a teenager could do with his iPhone! Outrageous! Imagine going online and complaining about things instead of complaining about people who complain about things

Yeah, about that. I won't be watching the Dallas games because they'll be blacked out on the national broadcast & the local won't carry the game.

Funny how TM has played Doty in two games, Clarke in all the games and Sean Walker in 0 games.
Dare I say it but i suspect Walker will be the D to go on waivers and make a spot for Clarke to stay up initially for 9 games.

They'll follow it with a comment that he needs time in the AHL to continue to progress his knee back to 100%. This creates a spot and makes it almost impossible for a team to claim him.

I had more time to think about it over beer and my Al Bundy beer league championship and

My issue is this lack of coverage is sort of a symptom of a bigger issue a few of us have had for some time.

It feels like a self-fulfilling prophecy that no one wants to watch preseason games...in a similar way that only the black-and-white jerseys sell. Of course no others will when you restrict access.

Between all that, the diminishing media access where the outsourced 'team' bloggers (present company nonwithstanding) are douchey gate keepers towards fans over their perceived silly thoughts while peddling their own hottakes (lolThompson) as 'insider' experts...

I feel like I'm being told what I like/want rather than being listened to at all. And maybe I'm just an old, jaded fan and what I want doesn't matter anymore because they're also rebuilding/going after a new audience. I also fully understand this is just my experience so it's anecdotal but that's where I am at this point, but even with a good team, I'm starting to feel more distant from this franchise because at every turn, because every time I even TRY to provide some feedback, either an 'official' team media presence or a 'better' fan than me is telling me why said feedback is dumb. And it only gets more restrictive as media members drop like flies.

It's frankly really f***ing stupid that me saying "hey I'd like to see this team more, especially since the 32nd franchise in the league and its fellow last-place teams can stream practice" results in several pages of f*** offs and several PMs justifying why it's ok. Bless you all, I know it's coming from a good place just like my criticisms are, but it really really doesn't feel like the current administration gives one shit what the fans want, not from a player deployment/utilization/coaching perspective--which they shouldn't--but from an actual entertainment perspective.

Quit telling me what I like and acting like I should be grateful to get anything at all. It's a VERY smug way to run an entertainment franchise. I was practically begging to waste money on a reverse retro jersey, but nope, since Luc is colorblind, those don't sell. I just wanted to watch my overhyped team play preseason just like the actual tire fire franchises, but nope, the 2nd largest media market in America can't or doesn't want to figure out the nuance between broadcast rights and internet streaming. I want more media access, but nope, we're going to keep cutting people until only sycophants who yell at fans are left. And then the remaining fans will tell those who want more what assholes they are. Can you imagine running a business like that, where you biggest fans want more, and you're going 'nah?'

Frankly, they should be so lucky many of us are still here after the last few years and should be begging us to come back but fortunately for them most of us are self-deprecating idiots who have dealt with much worse. But they are making it really hard to just enjoy what's going on.

I'll be over it tomorrow, and the season will go on eventually. But I'm sorry, for a professional organization that seems to know what they want to do on-ice, the lack of articulated vision and communication with fans are getting pretty old. I can respect Blake keeping his cards close to his chest with the on-ice stuff, but I can't respect the "yeah f*** preseason, here's more dog calendar" stuff coming from elsewhere.

I have Axl on ignore and even I can read the subtext of his argument. How many boots does this guy need to lick?
Those aren't boots...

At the start of camp, I made a personal commitment to be more positive about the Kings.

The only way I found was throwing our board’s versions of Boss Hogg and Roscoe P Coltrane on ignore. Been completely effective. Haven’t been this excited for a season in quite awhile.

The Ducks are also cheap as f*** when it comes to player acquisitions. The Kings just signed Fiala to 8-mil and are capped out as a result of trying to ice the best team as possible. I’ll take that over a meaningless pre-season game, behind the dirt curtain, that was a loss and resulted in a single goal with 60% of the starting roster not skating.

Jesus people, take a break from the keyboard.
OK, I am now absolutely convinced Axl is really Luc Robataille.
This perpetual reflexive sycophancy has GOT to be Luc.
Or his mom? Wife? Child? In-law? Plumber? Landscaper? Nephew? Pool boy?

Please, Luc (or whoever) make it stop!

I'm not a fan of Luc.

Luc has always embraced Hollywood over Los Angeles. The franchise consistently celebrates itself now, even though those behind the wheel had very, very little to do with the successes they are exploiting. He runs his side of the business as though it was one of those fancy boutiques you drive by on Melrose. All flash, little substance.

Walker was a great success story. He’s play more games and made more money than most players at his draft slot ever will. Unfortunately, injuries have derailed the careers of much better players. As much as I like him, if you have to lose him to waivers, you lose him to waivers.

Something that truly fascinates me is why someone who dislikes so many on this forum and is disliked by an equal and probably greater amount spends so much time and energy on said forum.

But yes, after never really wanting to go down that path I finally took the advice of @King'sPawn and did the same thing you did and the conversations are just so much better and easier to read.

Yup. People want to keep acting like jerks, they can be treated like a jerk and be ignored.

It is interesting spending so much time posting on a board when they a) dislike the majority of the people on the forum and b) dislike the content/feelings people are posting the majority of the time. But since they like to talk down on anyone who wants to discuss ways to improve the product, this is probably the only way they can pretend that they're superior fans.

With Arvidsson and Durzi returning to practice today, Spence and Andersson have been shifted back to the Ontario group.

Only remaining decisions appear to be based on if they keep Clarke up with 8 defensemen. Will Kupari stay up only to sit while JAD gets waived? If they keep 8 D, he may be waived anyway.

If he’s not quite fit they’re likely to keep him on LTIR and then put him in Ontario for a conditioning assignment. Even if he’s fit but just not game ready by not playing him in pre-season it probably keeps the conditioning assignment on the table. That’ll buy them some of the time to evaluate Clarke, although I’m obviously speculating.

I do agree though if we have to waive him then so be it. His top value even if healthy will not be a 1st or 2nd pick (unlikely a 3rd) so I wouldn’t send TB or Spence down simply to accommodate Walker either. If it’s a development decision then fine.

Any updates on Turcotte since beginning of camp? Sharks fan, I come in peace.

What the insider didn't mention is that Arvidsson didn't participate in many of the actual drills (many battle type drills with contact). Vilardi took his spot for most of those. Also, because Byfield was absent, Kupari took his spot between Iafallo and Kaliyev.
A group (Kopitar, Kempe, Fiala, Arvidsson, Doughty, Danault) came out about 15min early and worked with Hiller on the power play. Doughty at the point, Kopitar on the halfwall (but on the opposite side than usual) Kempe in the high slot, Fiala at the opposite circle (basically right on the faceoff dot. Arvidsson down low next to goal. Doughty passes to Kopitar who either passes to Kempe for one timer or thru slot to Fiala for one timer. Arvidsson around for deflections and rebounds. Danault would rotate with Kopitar.
Also, Fagemo and Andersson with 2nd group, along with Spence and Moverare. Sturm was running the 2nd group.

Jacob Doty got suspended 2 games for interference? Yet the game before, that meathead in SJ did something similar to Byfield and got nothing.

In its own right definitely a suspension. I’d their footage of the hit on Byfield as I haven’t seen it.
