NJ brought him out for a reason

Cammy's injury issues are always a concern. I think the team did want to get younger/faster and we had too many LWs as is. Hischier possibly making the team would one of Zacha/Henrique to LW as well. Cammalleri played the last part of the season at RW to unsexy results.

As mentioned, he started off last season well. Still has the shot. Unfortunately the Devils didn't have the best center depth last year. Cammalleri played okay with Zajac, but eventually Zajac was moved up with Hall. Cammalleri didn't mesh as well with Henrique as his center. So Kopitar would be an upgrade there for Cammy.

For a million+bonuses, it's a reasonable gamble.

None of last year's signings were like Brown or Gaborik and they are considered disasters.

No long term risk except maybe pushing the Kings to draft at 18th instead of 11th.

If he gets hurt like always, Top 6 looks like last year.

Interested to see if a trade happens in the next few days.

Zatkoff was a disaster due to the fact that he couldn't even pin down a backup spot. I don't know what you were expecting with Latta, Trotman, hell we even knew Purcell would be a bad fit on this team due to who was behind the bench.

Cammalleri with his struggles last season would still be one of the top goal scorers on last seasons Kings. That's how bad things were for the team. He's more serviceable than Purcell or Setoguchi. I just worry about his durability, but it's not a long term commitment.

I'm sure a lot of STH'ers failed to renew for this year due to boring hockey and a price increase.

They have until around the 10th or there will be more seats dropped. Hard to sell the same team at a higher price per game.

So trades, right? What do the Kings really have that can bring back an impact player?

Just saying there wasn't long term impacts last year either.

I don't hate this but, if this is it, nobody here can be happy.

Cammy literally has nothing to offer. Like someone else said. This is Luc bringing in pals and selling the fans on a name.

He's scored at a 25-goal pace over the last three years on a worse offensive team than the Kings. I'd say he has something to offer.

Take out last season and it's a 31-goal pace. In New Jersey.

For a million bucks? People are *****ing just to *****.

As Dean once said, Cammalleri will always be one of the better players on crap teams.

Not sure if he can maintain the "better players" part of it now.

He's 35 and injury prone, I don't really disagree. But this is basically the definition of low-risk, high-reward signing.

If he sucks, what's the risk? It's one year, and can bury him. Sure beats paying soft-ass Bonino multiple millions over several years.

There's no risk, it's just not what the organization needs if the Kings truly are contenders. That is the sales pitch coming from Luc isn't it?

Yes, Bonino is severely overpaid.

To me the problem is it's what the kings always do. Seems like the only thing they do are the high reward low risk crap. Do you feel Cammy actually makes this team better?

He's been a good player on playoff teams. He has 32 points in 32 playoff games I believe.

You know Camy is about the money. He'll be motivated this year so he can get one more contract.

If he's scoring at a good pace we may be ableto flip him at the deadline for a pick.

+bonuses.

1 year, $1m is a disaster, but 6 years, $35 wasn't? Interesting

Cammalleri is a one-trick pony, he can shoot the puck and not much else, this a low risk medium reward signing, not horrible value for a team lacking skill on the wing but this is not the same player that was given away almost a decade ago.

And I don't know what some of you expect Blake to do right now, in order to get a high end talent you either need cap space to sign the player or youth to trade for one. Blake inherited a situation where he was in cap trouble and had a laughable system. Blake is not the one to blame for the situation this team is currently in.

How do bonuses impact cap?

Here come the excuses.

Why are people so mad over this signing? One year , very cheap contract, if he sucks then it's no problem. Who would you guys rather have them try to sign?

It's a nothing signing. Like a Teddy Purcell.

Yes the probability is very likely, but there isn't some massive consequence term wise.

Is there anything you would have wanted to be done, because personally I don't see what else could have been done at the moment? They tried Thornton and it didn't work? What do you think they missed?
