Sample size is everything with these stats and the experts on here didn’t want Ghost or Walker (neither did I) and there’s little chance they are #1 when the sample size is more meaningful.

Edmundson has never been an analytical darling, even at his very best. He was brought in for a niche skill set, and it ain’t to polish the fancy stats.

While I agree with that the sight of him 'defending' by spinning like a top or taking a stick foul looks even worse than the analytics
I think like the others he's settling in too and will mostly end up fine, just overpaid, but early returns are hahahahahahahahahaha
Edit: i should be clear I have zero problem with him taking an actual roughing/crosscheck against people in our goalie's airspace but the 'chasing the game' calls are what have me miffed.

The Kings might consider bringing in Burroughs to pair with Clarke. Much better results.

Edmundson isn't there to make the Kings better, he is there to insulate a kid who is a lot rougher around the edges than most understood.
I think a lot of you guys are losing the plot here. Its okay to lose games due to inexperienced players struggling. The problem is that this process should have started two years ago so we could have kept Faber and Vilardi plus the picks spent in a multitude of transactions while the blue chippers get their lumps in and out of the way.
Anybody expecting the Kings to be a good team this year is going to be disappointed. Success this season will be measured in progress for the future, not in chasing a playoff whooping.

Edmundson is doing a good job of not making the Kings better. He's not doing a good job of insulating Clarke. Burroughs is a tough customer himself and probably a better defense partner.
This is partially true. But they signed him for too much and too long for it to be the only reason.
This is a player Blake tried to get before Clarke was even drafted.
This is a player Bergevin brought in to his last organization.
They 100% think Edmundson will make the Kings better.
Step 1: Tell Clarke he doesn't belong in the NHL for two seasons because he has to work on his defensive game.
Step 2: Staple Clarke to a complete anchor.
Step 3: Scratch head and eat belly button lint when Clarke struggles.

And that there is the crux of why I don’t care for the signing.
I love the thought of bringing in a guy to take care of a young stud (Sean O’Donnell with drew), but Edmundson just isn’t that guy. IMO.

He isn’t there to cover any mistakes, he is there to be a bit of a psychological boost to let Clarkes arrogance take hold at the NHL level.
