Lineup update for #DETvsPHI:•
Forward Rodrigo Abols is expected to make his NHL debut
Goaltender Samuel Ersson starts in net.
Forward Scott Laughton (personal-family matter) is unavailable tonight.
No Laughton?
Tonight should be EZPZ for the Flyers

- Ellis is not bad luck. It was staring them in the face - you don't trade for a 30 yo, smallish d-man who already had an injury history and was in the beginning part of a 6 year MM$ deal...
- Coots is not bad luck. A team that is at a minimum 5-years away does not resign a soon to be 30 yo to an 8-year deal, who already had heavy miles. A smart team cuts bait and starts to rebuild (same thing with TK BTW)....
- Patrick was a bad pick and this is not hindsight. He also had an injury history.....
- Gauthier should have been signed when he wanted to sign, but they got cheap. You guarantee him a spot. On that team, there was no way he was not going to be one of the best 18 forwards. #5 pick who would have definitely made the team can't be guaranteed a spot, yet they can do it for a 3rd round pick and waste a roster spot on a 3rd goalie
Patrick was the correct pick. He was the consensus slam dunk top 2 pick. It sucks what happened to him but it was the correct choice. Injury history in junior? That has proven to be false. We have discussed this countless times on this board. If you didn’t like the pick without hindsight that is fine.

Who presided over the Flyers from 2012 to 2023, Holmgren (and Clarke and Barber).
Holmgren refused to rebuild, Hextall blew it, Holmgren/Clarke hired CF and Barber advised Scott.

They never tried to rebuild, much less tank. A couple TDL trades in 2015, the Schenn trade, that was it.
They had (3) top ten picks, one they lucked into and blew. Provorov, Patrick and Gauthier.
And CF traded away a 1st, (3) 2nds, (2) 3rds, before getting a 1st and 3rd back with the G trade and a 3rd for Braun.

That's how you go nowhere, no coherent vision, just "patch and pray."

They still aren't rebuilding. They are doing the exact same things they were doing back from 2012 to 2023. It's the exact same thing. Going nowhere, no coherent vision, patching and praying.

Once again, rebuilding teams:
Don’t extend Seeler
Don’t extend Hathaway
Trade Konecny
Trade Laughton
Trade Risto

They aren’t rebuilding. They never rebuild. It’s just not in their DNA.

2014-15 Shoulder injury - missed 25% of season
pre 2016-17 - sport hernia surgery
2016-17 sports hernia complications - missed most of the season

That is enough for me to go another way....

That last point really bothers me. They are waiting for Kolosov to have no other option in the KHL but rostering him now bc he basically demanded it. Cutter is a top prospect that will typically have years burned. Hopefully Drysdale keeps progressing. It was looking pretty grim before the last few games

I've been saying that Brink is our best playmaker all year and he's making me think that harder and faster tonight so far
Did you forget about #39? :amazed:

I could get used to these 25 minute periods. Just put the players under a dome like bubble hockey and we won't have any pucks out of play stoppages...
