That's...not...a...superstar.

No one is arguing he doesn't have good potential, but to say he's all of a sudden on pace to become a superstar is a little over ambitious.

That's my thought, would it be great? Absolutely. However, I don't know when just being a Top 4 defenseman made someone a superstar.

I'll just be happy if Clague becomes an NHLer. Right now, he isn't.

And his performance at the junior level, while spectacular, does not guarantee that either.

So, he wants in @ 26-years-old? Isn't that what Datsyuk did?
I think Datsyuk was younger. I was down by the glass for the young stars thing in '02, and he couldn't have been that old. I remember wondering who the scrawny Russian guy with the terrible cowlick sticking up was.

Datsyuk was 23 when he broke in, and made his NHL debut 3 years after he was selected (drafted in '98, debuted in '01), and he didn't spend a single second learning to "adapt" to the North American style of hockey in the AHL.

With that said, Prokhorkin is no Datsyuk.

I fully expect him to come back to dominate the OHL... yes he's been out with a back injury but he's also returning fully healthy for the first time in well over a year..

Yea but, he's injury prone.......

Excited for his season to start. Seems like the other kids drafted by LA have started off strong. Good to see

I assume there is still a possibility Vilardi will get up to 9 games with the Kings before we send him back to junior?

I don't have much of a view on if that would be a good idea, especially as he missed all of camp. I'm just curious.

It is possible? Yes, but highly unlikely. Futa has already said they didn't feel he was ready for the NHL this season. And just as important, he doesn't have a contract yet. I imagine the Kings want to have him play some in Juniors to see if he has fully recovered before he inks a rookie max deal.

What's the word on Rymsha? It looks to me like he's having a bit of a break out, on paper at least.

His numbers are on par with last season

I believe Markus Philips was supposed to be a sure fire 3rd rounder and the Kings still took Anderson when Philips was still on board.

Is it safe to say that our farm system has made an impressive jump despite the gambling away of our 1st rounders these past few seasons...
Adrian Kempe... Officially a NHLer
Gabriel Vilardi... great prospect just need to play
Michael Amadio.. has been very good in a limited sample size
Jaret Anderson-Dolan.. off to a great start and hopefully will grow a bit more at 17YO
Alex Iafallo.. Find of the year for the Blake and Co
Austin Wagner... too bad he got hurt because he had a breakout season
Jonny Brodzinski... looking regain his confidence and provide some bottom 6 play for the big club

Kale Clague... looking really good with a breakout season in the works, currently way more offense than defense but 19YO
Mikey Anderson... off to a solid NCAA start
Markus Phillips... off to a nice start in the OHL
Paul LaDue... seems ready to play in the NHL but is blocked by a few surprisingly solid debuts and additions
Kevin Gravel... needs to step up or he'll be buried behind some risers
Jacob Moverare... is moving through the system, hopefully he'll have a breakout within the next few seasons
Chazz Raddekopp... project
Matt Roy... project

Cal Petersen... could he be our next Martin Jones??
Matt Villaldi... looking like a nice addition by the FO

Russian note*

Alexander Dergachyov
SKA 5 games 1g 1a
Moscow 12 games 2g 1a

Looks to be getting more of an opportunity to play for Moscow. Only 21, one of the younger players on the roster.
