Kings News: Kings players tired of Sutter?

DL says NY post is "factually inaccurate," and that the dispute between players, coaches happened in Tampa.

Re the Post report, Lombardi said it happened in Tampa Bay...a version of that story.

Oh, ****.

Anyone else see this as a pissed off players only meeting getting blown out of proportion?

These guys are competitors, I don't doubt they had a good yell at a point or two, and then they get over it.

I've played on levels not near the NHL and been in fights with teammates at practice, hated coaches momentarily, etc. and you're over it in 5 minutes. I don't doubt that, with this leadership group, they took over at some point and said together 'let's do this.' I DO doubt that they barricaded Sutter out in any sort of '**** you' way.

This is where you are wrong, Herby.

New York Post.

Done and done.

He exaggerates Ron, but there is no way he decided to type up some completely made-up story about a team that plays 3k miles away. Again, I'm not endorsing the entire story, but as with the follow-up quote from Lombardi there was some truth to it.

Just all the more reason to have some new faces in the lockerroom this coming season, I think this group got complacent and comfortable this season. Bringing in some hungrier players to replace a few of the older guys will do a lot of good for this group. I thought it should have happened last year and the message would have been sent with the Richards buyout and telling Greene thanks for everything but we are going in a different direction. That would have told everyone in that lockerroom that no matter how well the team fared if you are not pulling your weight you will be sent elsehwere, that didn't happen and the result was a ton of veterans didn't pull their weight this year. I still believe in this group but a little change to keep everyone alert and on their game is never a bad thing.

I get it, but the Kings players denied the story as written. He missed a lot of facts and for sure made the stupid **** up of barricading the door.

Players' only meeting getting a little testy? Why not, that's normal...they had just lost to Florida in the worst way possible and made some of the same crappy mistakes in the Tampa Bay game while coming away with a win. (The first of eight.)

So maybe they needed more heat during the rest of the "run" which never took place.

Who the **** barricades themselves in a lockerroom? That's what we did in pee wee to other kids and parents.

I kind of see this the same way you do. It wouldn't be a normal existence if emotions, feelings, etc. didn't blow up a little bit at times. Anyone here ever get in a fist fight with your brother, beat the **** out of each other, only to be in a situation a few hours later where you're sticking up for each other out on the town? I'd be more surprised if we didn't hear a little bit of this, and that's why DL is acknowledging things happen, but everyone moves on, like family!!!

I'm sure this kind of stuff happened before on the Kings. Winning cures everything. Unfortunately, they failed to make the playoffs this year so things couldn't get swept under the rug.

1. why not? He's done it before plenty of times for plenty of teams in his tabloid.

2. He has an agenda, an NYR fan kicking while we're down.

I wouldn't say there's "no way" and there's truth as you point out but he took one detail and used it to paint on his own canvas how he saw fit. Misleading journalism at its finest.

Exactly, guy's a Rangers fan writing for a NY based paper.

In fact, what really happened is this guy and other editors locked their boss out of the conference room because the NY Post is such a garbage organization. Their story is correct, except it happened to them.

Bernstein's wrong again...He should know better. No player worth his salt will talk about what happens in 'the room'

More to come later:

There is now a tweeting embargo on the Lombardi presser. Ground rules had not been established...

hmmm

“@DennisTFP: Dean Lombardi confirms team did lock Darryl Sutter out of locker room. â€It happened in Tampa, not Vancouver. Don’t have a problem with it“â€

They went on an eight-game winning streak after that.

So he's tweeting after Lisa said there's an embargo, due to ground rules not being established?

Exactly what I'm thinking.

I wouldn't doubt "something" happened, but I doubt it's anywhere nearly as dramatic as The NY Putz piece is claiming.

Honestly, I'd be a little more concerned if nothing heated ever happened. I know Sutter preaches taking things game by game and all that and generally you want to stay cool, but every great once in a while when things are going bad, it can help to blow off some steam and have a good yell at each other.

Perhaps this has to do with the lack of response for the Cedric Paquette hit on Martinez. Perhaps Sutter instructed them not to respond and the players were pissed.
Just speculating
