See ya.

We are out of a playoff spot and our 14 million dollar player is tied in goals with a 4th liner that many predicted would be the last LA King to score a goal, yourself included I believe. Patrick Maroon has as many points as Kopitar nearly halfway through the season, but yeah we just "can't buy a bounce".

Everyone saw this last year, but the homers will be homers.

Little aside, but this is sorta why I hate that the NHLPA keeps trying their best to make sure players don't have to practice. This team functions on a system and that system needs practice to stay on top of things, maintenance if you will, and they keep adding these mandatory off days when these teams should be practicing after an awful game.

Pat ****ing Maroon has almost triple the goals that Kopitar does. There is something seriously wrong with this team right now

Am I right in thinking no team clocks up more travel miles than the Kings? Hopefully the home swing will help them get back on track. I'm seeing the reverse happen here in Montreal, they had an 'easy' schedule and did alright, now the games are against teams in the groove and they hit a skid. Swings and roundabouts

As for Kopitar, this is on him, DS and DL. If you ain't fit to play step aside, **** your ego and the 'I want to play every game BS' DS needs to ice the best team not the best names and DL needs to have a word if that ain't being done.

This is not two time cup team.

Missed playoffs, 1 win in the first round, likely will miss the playoffs again.

Fact is, for all their talk of change in the offseason, it's the same old same old.

Stagnation.

I agree, if Kopitar is still hurting to the point where it's affecting his play this badly then he shouldn't be playing at all.

Its been a revolving door of injuries to key guys, yet we are still within reach of a playoff spot, hardly the end of the world. Yes its frustrating to lose to teams that we used to spank, but we have guys coming back that will help big time.

Id like to see kopi rested a bit next game, give him 3rd line minutes, either hes injured or the pressure is getting to him abd hes overthinking things.

Oh, so thats how you score on the pp.

That was a carbon copy of last night goal.

can someone tell Buday it's okay to poke check the puck?? you don't have to hold your stick tight to your pads / skates.

and what a @#$% penalty giving edm the pp. McJesus grabbed the kings stick and held on till the refs gave him the call. *******!!!

Either way, Buday still can't score though?...

And like others have said, Kopitar needs to sit for a week or two to get fully healthy. He has zero threat on the ice.

8 points in the 9 road games, and now the Kings are sitting outside of the playoffs. They didn't get what they needed(at least breaking even), but they didn't kill their chances. It's just now that many more points they have to get, and each game is that much more important.

They did change in the summer. They just couldn't get rid of the guys that would've made a real difference. Those guys they're stuck with, so there's only so much that can be done. They signed a bunch of warm bodies, and a couple young guys are getting playing time. I think that was the right thing to do, because after the last 2 years, this is a completely wait and see team.

These last 2 games killed the road trip. 2 very poor games in a row. Budaj played relatively well throughout the road trip outside the Buffalo game and all the forwards not named Carter sucked ass and couldn't support the goaltending. You just can't have that at this point in the season.

Kings should have beaten Buffalo and Vancouver and it would have been a good trip. Instead we're sucking ass in the worst division in hockey.

Kings are tied with the Wild for least home games in the league at this point, so thus far, you may be right in thinking that. They also had a gnarly stretch against insane teams for a bit, including the back to backs and double 3 in 4 nights across the country. The travel certainly eases up this month with all of January at home IIRC, which is why I'm hopeful.

But be careful because it's an unpopular opinion that this team is anything but terrible.

The team is not terrible. The way they are playing is. Unfortunately it's the latter that decides the standings.

I think this board is overreacting this game because of the last game though. If we beat the Canucks instead of playing one of our worst (the single worst, maybe?) games of the season and still had this game tonight, I don't think it would be so kill-yourself around here. This is why I'm trying to keep the big picture in mind. And I agree, again, we can't put it all together--Budaj is on a hot streak again and we can't support it. Odds are we'll start scoring again and then Budaj will die.

The last two games, sure. How quickly we forget the Kings dominating a team that is currently on a 16-game streak, only not breaking that streak because of a coin flip. Beating the Pens, who only have one point less than CBJ, at home on the third game in four nights from Buffalo to Detroit to Pittsburgh. Absolutely obliterating the Preds. And actually playing really well vs. the Stars on another 3 in 4 nights only to lose another coin flip.

Does it **** me off that we play up to CBJ and down to Vancouver? Absolutely. But considering they'll have gone exactly three weeks between home games, given all the other context surrounding that team, I'm not nearly as "BLOW IT ALL UP" as some around here. I just have a hard time wrapping my head around some of the short-sightedness.

See you guys Saturday.
