It matters if they're on the outside looking in by April.
That is a whole lot of points this team has given away. If they had earned half of those extra points, they'd comfortably be sitting in 2nd in the division.
The Kings didn't squeak by and secure a playoff position in the last couple of games of the season in 2012 or 2013 or 2014. This year they're in a dog fight with Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg and Minnesota. Five teams trying to secure four playoff spots, and right now all of those teams are gaining some big points.
Ifs and butts man. In this moment, getting at least 1pt was what the Kings needed tonight. 2 would have been gravy, sure.

If the Kings do make it to the playoffs, we will look a bit different than right now. I'd say Pearson will be back. Martinez will be back. Who knows maybe Richards? I think we may lead the playoffs in goals again!
