On Quick, you guys know him better than I do but his over aggressiveness can be a weakness as he can get caught out of position on a cross ice pass. Lucky for you guys, is your D is incredibly tight and doesn't give up many of those passes.
The book on Quick seems to be cross ice one timers high over glove or blocker.
It can be--but his aggressiveness also often gets him back into position to make the save. I agree his style may not work on other teams, though. He just fits perfectly.
If that's the book on Quick, consider that to be the book on any goalie that doesn't stay parked deep inside his own crease. You also need a good amount of skill to place a shot like that. I will say Chicago exploits that to a T--getting high shots in from the high slot. Right in front of the net won't do. I'm rarely worried about stuff right across the crease or in the low slot. high slot cross-passes or even passes from behind the net are scarier.
Considering Quick has been in the league for a few years and the league has adjusted to him, I'd say he's working out juuuuust fine. He also ratchets it up in the playoffs I would argue because he sees more work against good teams like the Sharks and Blues rather than getting bored as hell seeing 15 shots (he seems to lose focus and/or all those shots are just random prayer passes across the crease and a bounce in off our player).
