Does Jim Hiller still use the 1-3-1? If he does then I don't expect much to change in the playoffs. The Oilers have figured out how to break through it with ease, and one forechecker doesn't leave room for a Kings counterattack. They're incredibly solid and skilled, this year's round 1 will be determined by which structure they employ, as well as how their PK holds up. The Oilers are 45% on the PP vs the Kings in the playoffs the last 3 years combined.
Nope. They said in the beginning of this season they will not use it. They play 1-2-2 now

It’s a tale as old as time. Look at the last oilers vs kings game, your Gdt was filled with complaints about the lack of power plays since the oilers lack the finish on 5 on 5.
If the Oilers are true PP merchants, it’s even more embarrassing to progressively get tossed in the first round in worst fashion.

Justify it however you guys like.

Yeah, not dynamic enough, not offensively deep enough. Will be another 1 or 2 round out.

Kuemper is not a goalie who's going to steal multiple series.

They're good, but they'd be even scarier IMO minus Fiala and + Vilardi and Faber(also avoiding that wasted year experimenting with Dubois). Imagine that might make them among the top Cup contenders out West by now if you adjust the lineup with those 2 added and also Doughty returning soon. We'll never know for sure though.

Speaking of which, what's up with Byfield and Fiala?

Fiala had 73 points last year but on pace for 51..

Byfield seems to have picked it up lately at least, but had a really slow start.

Byfield was moved to center this year, after spending the past season and a half growing accustomed to wing.

But he's also extremely streaky.

Fiala just has chemistry issues in general.

I'm sorry, but I just don't hate LA.

I'm bored to shit with this first round matchup, and I'm sure they feel the same way.

Hate Vancouver. Hate Calgary.

But LA? Their fans are mostly pretty cool, and are just better people than the pieces of shit in BC. Especially here and in Social Media.

This is just a dumb Bettman rivalry that isn't sticking.

Hope one of us overtakes the division. I hope it's us, but wouldn't mind if it were you.

No 1C, 1D nor 1G. We need to clear out the front office.
Isn't this a pretty typical problem when multiple cup winning 1c, 1d, and 1g players age out? LA is pretty competitive compared to their 2010s cup winning peers. Their one shot at growing a 1c was finding a young, on-the-outs project and that guy totally shit the bed. Maybe they can try another. Anyway, I kind of admire teams that don't pack it in for a decade and collect lotto tickets.
