I could see some cap retention on Pavelec being a possibility if that's what it takes to move him. After all, even retaining half Pavelec salary for the season costs less than paying his entire salary in the minors.

Would be curious to see how Pavelec would fare behind the Kings defence. First thought was that he's so hyperactive in the net, it might be a disaster. But then, Quick is extremely active in his crease as well, and that seems to work just fine.

Good news. Inquire about that Trouba guy while you're on the phone Dean.

Should stay away from Bernier. Ducks are having too much fun trying to figure out how to calculate their cap. Seriously, someone tell their GM there are sites like NHLnumbers, Generalfanager, and capfriendly out there. They could use some help. Anyways Ducks would have to eat half his salary, which probably wouldn't work for them, and the Kings wouldn't give up a whole lot. Maybe a 5th?

lol, thanks and you're right. We'll deal with our cap ourselves rather than provide the Kings with a capable netminder. We'd be more than thrilled to see LA starting Pavelec.

I think a trade with the Isles to grab Greiss would be a better option for the Kings given their cap restrictions. Plus, Greiss is a better goalie than Pavs.

Still think there's at least a hint of truth to this, DL knows this isn't the team that could protect Jones/Scrivens and Jones at least had a lot more potential than Zatkoff/Budaj. Either guy is good in spot duty as we've seen, but asking either to be a starter or even 1a/1b for months is sketchy.

I know Pavelec is a bad starter but he at least 'handles' the load*.

*definition of handles is very flexible

Dean Lombardi loves trading for crappy players.

...and then the Oilers love waiting around and signing those crappy players to long term deals with NMCs

And the Kings have been interested in GReiss in the past. We just don't have the assets to cough up. Pavelec makes more sense because he's 'flawed' and thus would be likely cheaper

Trouba won't get traded as a sweetener to get rid of Pavelec's contract. If they didn't want full value for him--as in, a player equal to him, not a collection of pieces--he'd already be traded.

Jets need Hutch in order to expose him in the expansion draft.

This issue is over-stated. The could sign any of a number of goalies to an NHL deal to fulfill that condition instead.

Nah we can't give you trouba for a pile of nothing in return. We need someone who can slip into the top 4 LD and not be in over their head.

McNabb played with Doughty most of last season (top pairing). This season, he's playing with Martinez so far (2nd pairing). That's a top 4 guy right there......

I see nothing interesting coming from the Kings for Trouba. Moving along......

What do you define as "interesting"? Clowns? Midgets? Bearded ladies? LoL, we've got a 6'7" guy in the minors. Is that "interesting" enough for you? :sarcasm:

We have two 6'7" guys in the minors also, what's your point?

I see nothing interesting enough coming from the Kings to make Chevy trade Trouba. Disagree? Post it.

Scuderi played in three different teams' top 6 last year so that must make him a NHL caliber defenseman then

Thank You!!!!

Thousands of posts, multi threads and you don't know chevys asking price?

OK let's start:

- Chevy wants similar lhd as Trouba (talent, age, upside, etc)

If Josh M steals the top 4 lhd job (looks like he has, likely top 3 best player through preseason and two games in reg season) or simply no acceptable lhd available Chevy might change his demand to BPA (aka forward). Chevy stated no interest in picks. High end or blue chip Lhd prospect might hold value also.

Summary:

- A left handed D like Trouba in all ways

- BPA (very good young forward)

- Blue chip lhd D prospect

Don't bother offering older players or players 1-2 years away from UFA or UFA's etc, no need for goalies. Not all teams will be able to afford chevys demands.
