Because there's no sense in further depleting the Kings prospect pool for a guy who's marginally better than Zatkoff. And then there's the whole, "What do we do with the three headed goalie monster when Quick comes back?".

I think if it's Greiss, you're getting someone who's more than marginally better than Zatkoff but that was more of a question about why talk to the Jets about Pavelec who is worse than any of the three you could pick from the Islanders.

Ondrej Pavelec was a proven NHL starter for 5 seasons with Atlanta/Winnipeg organizations, and could still be a good enough stop gap until Quick returns.

Come on don't stretch the truth. Most of the minutes Scuds got last year were bottom pair minutes with a few games up the lineup by desperate teams.

He was being facetious, responding to an equally facetious post by a Kings fan that was similarly stretching McNabb's credentials to a "top pairing" defenseman. It was all in good fun....

wow...

didn't know the Kings could be that desparate ;)

I know you're half-joking, but the rumor checks out in a way--Dean Lombardi loves targeting undervalued reclamation projects, or guys with 'flaws.' Carter (to a much lesser degree imo), Gaborik, LeCavalier/Schenn, etc. The only real exception I can think of is Sekera. Even Looch to a degree was a bit of a question like that with his previous year's production dip (but he didn't get a discount there that's for sure).

Maybe 'undervalued' isn't the right word but you know what I mean.

Pavelec should never be the answer to your goalie problems. Got to think the Kings will go somewhere else to solve their goalie issue.
