Tired of all the excuses about how much hockey some of these guys played this year.

It doesn't seem to bother Kane and Toews.

I think this was a year where Lombardi wanted Doughty and Kopitar to take ownership and responsibility for the results.

They failed.

I do think the Kings have lost a lot of their "glue". Guys like Williams, Stoll, Mitchell, Greene, Scuderi, Regehr, etc. just didn't accept this kind of crap play from themselves or their teammates. Even in a game like this where the Kings are losing, you could count on one of the aforementioned guys trying to intimidate the opposing team by being extra physical or chippy.

Carter along with Lewis tried to lead this group, but no one followed.

Regehr lives around Calgary. Could've picked him up one a one-day contract for a little Hemsky special, just saying.

I'd say there's some of that in there for sure.

But again, most of those vets were around in 14-15. Many things have conspired since winning that 2nd Cup.

Indeed, most of those players were on the 2014-15 roster. I just think most of them were no longer physically able, especially Stoll and Greene.

Yeah. Maybe in 14-15, but even then. Muzzin was crap when he played for Canada too. Kopitar didn't score any goals in the World Cup either. They've all just played poorly this year. Well, not all, and not all the time. Kopitar, Toffoli, and Muzzin has surprisingly below average seasons. Kopitar has recently put up some points, but now Carter can only score into empty nets. If it's not one thing, it's another.

Do we really think the Kings are going to improve to the point where they overtake Edmonton and Calgary in the near future?

These two teams are on the upswing. At best the Kings may fight for 3rd in the Pacific with San Jose and Anaheim in the next few seasons.
