A look at all the Russians who have played for the Kings since 2008:

Alexander Frolov
Andrei Loktionov
Slava Voynov
Ilya Kovalchuk
Nikita Scherbak
Nikolai Prokhorkin
Vladimir Tkachev
Vladislav Gavrikov

Not very many.

How many Russians have been good in the NHL since 2008? That's 17 years, and 20 have played in 500 games. 500/82 is 6 years. Russia hasn't produced an abundance of NHL talent in a long time. That the Kings have 2 or 3 even somewhat productive Russians in that time is well above the average.

Not sure what to make of this deadline. Sounds like he tried and was out of reach. Oh well, I still think trading Doughty would have been a better option long term. 2026 draft is supposed to be deep and I wanted some 1st rounders.

Also sounds like they laid the ground work for moves this summer. I would not be shocked with a splash as draft is here .

Reason for LA's quiet Trade Deadline Deals, nothing LA could have got (the price for top end talent would have cost them too much) would have been enough to get them pass WPG, EDM, LV, AVS, or DAL.

You forgot the Legendary first Russian to play in 1982 in Viktor Netchaev...Frolov was good even very good then Lombardi tossed him like the idiot he was/is...Voynov was very good would still be playing...Loktionov never really got a chance...Kovaltchuk was too old by then and had grown quite fat...Tkachev was used and sent to Ontario and after 1 year went back home to Russia to play and Star in the KHL...Gavrikov has been very good even great and has to be signed ASAP...8-9 M should do it...4-5 years

I think our Goaltending doesn't falter and shit the bed like All Holes Talbot's meltdown and our Defense is better we just need our Offense to show up and score often

I think Frolov's career +/- really stands out considering how many BAD teams he was on; while consistently having 60 point seasons.

Not to mention I truly believe in 2010 if he scored on the breakaway and Ryan Smyth scored on the wide open net we beat the Canucks that year.

Unfortunately Lombardi peddled him away soon there after right...he had a 35 and 32 goal years for the Kings too...and was the inventer of the cycle the Kings started to use with effectiveness and Stanley Cups

Man… what a list.

I’ll be the first to admit how much I loved Frolov’s game, even though he drew quite a bit of ire from the fanbase for being “Mr. Wraparounds”, as he was an incredibly effective player in all situations. Scoring 35 goals on a terrible kings team was a feat.

Slava was a stud, but also apparently a biblical piece of shit.

Gavrikov has been great, and it’s gonna sadden me to see his legacy sullen by a bloated extension.

The rest of that list? Absolute dog meat, and I don’t particularly think Kuzmenko is gonna end up any different, although I’d love to be wrong.
You are going to be wrong starting tonight

And I should say one of my Favorite Soviet Developed players was Alexei Zhitnik...I lost my mind when the Kings traded him to the Sabres for Boucher

So Kuzmenko is a Natural LWinger and Kempe plays the RWing so what do the Kings do...play them on their opposite sides...Where is Kaiyev and where will they play Greentree... leave the fricking players to succeed or fail on their natural positions there are only so many Gaborik's who could switch positions...
