Those giveaway/takeaway stats are pretty worthless given how they vary from stadium to stadium. That said, the Kings are pretty awful in puck control, and one of the giveaways that likely Doughty was given yesterday for example could be credited to Kempe for putting his defenseman in a bad spot.

Everyone focused on the Doughty turnover, but if Kempe had any hockey smarts he'd have kicked it up the boards, instead of the hand grenade he gave back to Doughty. That's all on Kempe.

Watch it again, he was on his backhand being pressured up the wall, if he had any smarts/experience, he would have ate it right there instead of trying to move it at all, take the hit, but don't push it back to a guy in your own zone who is not ready etc.

No doubt that the Kings need to shred Carter and Quicks contract first since itd be the easiest

I'm actually worried about Carter. "he's got a low salary the next 3 years and a 5.2 cap hit"

I would bet ANYONE Carter never plays those last 2 years. He's withering fast and I would trade him now. I would be surprised if he plays all of next year...but SURELY
NOT into the final 2 years. He's lost his #1 thing - 5th gear. He barely has a 4th gear even and uses it only when he has to....his shooting % is 7.1% (((Martinez' is better than that))) Carter is Soft, Easy to play against. not really a playmaker. And not really a scorer any more. Nate Shcmidt kicked in his last goal.

SEE THIS...THE LEAGUE KNOWS. If anyone SERIOUSLY thinks the Kings are getting a #1 for Carter, who turns 34 January 1, and can no longer skate past a defenseman
and is SOFT and a main skater on the 29th worst PP and 29th worst PK and has 2 even strength goals after 31 games....you're kidding. HOW is he supposed to be playing 1,2,3 years
from now? He's close to done NOW. What GM takes the 3 years left on the contract?

A quote from a Western Conference Asst GM on Jeff Carter. “That burst that he had and his ability to skate past players is not there. Have to believe last seasons injury is still an issue. Would be leery in trading for him.” Carter has just two even strength goals this season.

Carter could be packaged w/others. Yet, for hypothetical discussion, if he went solo, start w/ Evander Kane UFA package (1st, 4th, prospect)... Then take a discount for age difference... Note: Carter also comes with favorable cap certainty, so that could be attractive to some.

LOL!!!!!!!!

#mayoroverruling NOT HAPPENING. I hope the best for Jeff...truly. But the above is a pipedream of pipedreams. No cap is 'favorable' when you can't be playing in the nhl in 1,2,3 years...certainly the last 2 years he won't be.

My god man, you act like he's completely washed a up right now and will be playing in the KHL in 2 season!

I would be interested in getting Josh Ho-Sang out of the Island. Played 22 games last season and did fairly well.

Not really sure what their thought process is with him. Just feels like they don't want to give him a fair shake.

Wonder if something around Forbort for Ho-Sang would work. Both probably could use a fresh start.

JHS is the exact level of player (a prospect knocking on the leagues door) the kings should be targeting over picks IMO.

Given Carolina's need both in net and up front I wonder what LA could get for 2 of Quick, TT and Carter. Would love Necas but guessing that is a pipe dream. Carolina has a lot of prospect that I think could help LA next year. Plus as an added bonus they have Williams so we could cheer for them this year.

It's a blip for the entire team. This is just a bad year for everyone. I still don't think his leg is right since coming back. We may not see the same Carter til next season.

I think it is somewhere in the middle. He looks like he has lost a step from his injury so he maybe better as he heals more. However he also is getting older.

The moment you have all been waiting for...
Are you ready!?! Wait for it...

Agree that Carters leg is not healed and he is due for a bounce back. But even then, his value is 34 year old top 9 winger, not #2C.

I disagree that this year is a blip. It’s more like last year was an aberration and the team got off to a hot start when getting points is easier. But really the team has been in steady decline since 2015-16.

Last year, they won 11 out of the first 16 games. After that, they had one winning streak of 8 games starting around thanksgiving.

But the rest of the season, 51 games, the longest winning streak was 3 games, which happened 3 times. This was offset by 2 three game losing streaks. The worst was a 6 game losing streak in early January.

The remainder of the games were around .520 hockey, so mediocre at worst and never a serious contender for a deep playoff run, much less a cup.

Actually this is the conversation I had with a friend yesterday. As a couple recent examples... before Quick went back on IR he played like utter crap for like 2-3 games. Same with Kovalchuk, come to find out it wasn't necessarily WD behind the benching (ankle).

While no player has consistently played good this season, A) I just don't think Carter is anywhere near 100%, and B) I don't think he's done

You guys get that this dog calendar thing is done by even good teams, right? Like every year. That it has nothing to do with the Kings ineptness to try and make up for all the bad hockey and management, but it's to raise money for some do goodery stuff?

I'm pretty sure were aware but when they suck this kind of stuff looks even worse.

Seems the Penguins and Flyers are looking at Quick...make them bid against each other! Stolarz was horribrutal last night...watched it. Were up 6-4 and Flames scored
2 on last 1:07 to tie it and then Johnny Hockey scored in OT/....you can watch the replays and see that most of them, the Flyers D was bad on 2 of them.
They need Quick and 1 of Muzzin / Martinez....so do the Pens.
