Whoa...does this mean tickets are very difficult to come by? I was planning a trip to Russia in early March (my wife is from there) and seeing a few games. I've seen KHL games before in Latvia, Finland, and the Czech Republic, but never actually in Russia, so this is a "bucket list" thing for me. Although plans are still being finalized, I was going to try to see the Dynamo game on March 7, the Torpedo game on March 8, and the Ak Bars game on March 10 (at those home arenas). Do tickets go on sale far in advance?

Yeah, you can buy tickets in advance. If I know, tickets go on sale cca a month before home series, but it depends on club. I doubt you can buy them with VISA .... but I am not sure.

I follow the attendance on daily basis, so my opinion ... Dynamo will be OK to buy a ticket days before the game, but Loko fans will definitelly come to Moscow. Depends how many of them will come. Torpedo will be sold-out, you will be very lucky to buy a ticket, even today (if on sale). Do not give up! People complain on ticket resellers (black market). Would be cool if Torpedo moved to a new arena, but it should happen next season (for example Avto Ekaterinburg should play at new arena already in March). When you are in Nizni Novgorod, go to Strelka territory, the new Torpedo arena is almost completed, it is located next to soccer stadium (FIFA World Cup 2018). I posted some pictures in other thread, I believe. You should get tickets in Kazan. I would recommend you to buy tickets online before you travele to Russia.

Dynamo Loko, you can buy here even today

Torpedo games in March are not available yet

You need to be registered at Ak Bars website to buy a ticket, it seems. I do not know if there is other service offering their tickets, perhaps Яндекс Афиша?

Thanks for the info. That's very helpful. I was able to get Dynamo tickets (through my wife's relatives in Russia). Honestly, I wasn't sure what tickets to buy for a good seat, since there seems to be that gap between the front row and the glass you see a lot in Europe that we generally don't have here in the US. So, I advised my wife to tell them to get the third row up, which they did. And in the last few hours I did check on the Torpedo tickets, which aren't on sale yet as you mentioned. I wonder when exactly they drop, because I suspect they will be difficult to get if I don't act quickly. But they do scalp tickets in Russia? Considering the tickets are very inexpensive (compared to the US/Canada), I wonder how much they would be if bought on the street? Ak Bars registration actually wanted to call me with a code to register. But apparently they won't call America, because I never got it. And really, I speak very little Russian, so I'd have to have my wife answer. But I suspect their tickets might not be easy, either.

Of course, now I have to deal with the visa side of things. Should make the hockey tickets a walk in the park in comparison.

I read that Torpedo increased ticket price, now one ticket costs from 1700 to 4400 rubles for January games.

That's starting to get into some of the European league prices. I'm still kind of looking at an itinerary and am deciding between trying to see these three games, or maybe just make it simpler and see the Dynamo game and try to get tickets to the SKA game on the 8th of March vs. Magnitogorsk. I would love to see that new stadium, because I can't claim to have been to the largest hockey stadium in the world anymore (which was previously the Montreal Forum). But I have no idea if those tickets are obtainable, either. The SKA website blocks me with an error message. I'd really like to see some of the less prominent teams (at least to a US fan), but that's a lot of travel by rail (with some odd schedules). And I'd hate to get there and not be able to get tickets.

Yeah, general SKA website does not work for me either. But if you go to subdomains, it works. See the link here for tickets. Or follow the KHL website for tickets, here for SKA. It will redirect you to official seller at Yandex Afisha.

Travelling... funny story from today, Sochi flied to Magnitogorsk for a game, but the plane had to land in Ufa due to weather. It did not get better, so the Sochi team took a bus to go to Magnitogorsk from Ufa.

It is up to you, where you will go .. of course. On the other hand, Torpedo under coach Larionov is fun to watch.

Cool, thanks so much for the links! I did get a Russian friend to get on there and I see that game is not for sale yet. Most teams don't seem to sell that far in advance.

I would like to see Torpedo and Ak Bars games. But with 6 hours or so of train travel between them, and trains leaving at inconsistent times, I'm not sure I want to wear myself down on a vacation like that. Also, although my wife is being a sport about it (and I had to agree to go to the theater, of course), I wonder if three hockey games in about a week won't get on her nerves. With the Dynamo and SKA games, I get them done on two days in a row. Although I will admit, I am eyeing that Spartak/Kunlun game in Moscow on the 5th, even if it is the day I arrive. But still debating which way I want to go with this trip.

Speaking of funny hockey stories, I was in Bosnia and Herzegovina last month. And of course, as I always do when I go over to Europe, I looked for a hockey league. They do have a small professional league and I got in touch with a team in Sarajevo. And a game was scheduled the day I arrived. So, I was set to go when they texted me about two hours before game time and told me the game was canceled. The Zamboni had broken down! Not exactly the NHL...

By the way, where are you from, if you don't mind me asking?
