Oh man, have you given up on the Sabres? Are you a Kraken fan now?!

I've been waiting for the Seattle team for a long time and I'm planning on moving back out to the west coast, so I'll primarily be following them once they get going. I had intended to keep following the Sabres as well, but my interest in this organization is basically non-existent right now.

What? Non-existent? Did you say ‘non-existent’? No interest is non-existent until we decide it is! Were Sabres fans non-existent when Columbus got the Wild? Hell no!”

50 days with no embarrassing blunders. Adams is killing it.

Hard to commit a crime while you're still under house arrest ;)

I feel like the roller coaster is ascending...once the playoffs end, we'll just have to throw our arms in the air and hope for the best. I'm scared but less scared than if Botterill was still in place.

Jakubowski's never been a decision maker, but I think he's going to play a major role behind the scenes helping Adams. Botterill, a well known cap genius, probably didn't use Jakubowski in that regard. The Sabres did well in arbitration hearings last year. They might have a few important ones coming as well as a lot of contract negotiations.

The team also announced that Mark Jakubowski has been named assistant general manager, serving under club general manager Tim Murray.
Jakubowski, entering his 10th year with the Sabres, spent the past six years as the assistant to the general manager and also served as director of hockey administration for one year. His responsibilities include salary cap analysis, contract research relating to player negotiations and arbitrations, managing player transfers, team roster administration, and all matters relating to compliance with the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement and other NHL agreements. Jakubowski also assists with the American Hockey League hockey operations of the team’s minor league affiliate, the Rochester Americans.
Mark Jakubowski – Buffalo Sabres Digital Press Box

Mark Jakubowski, Vice President of Hockey Administration: Jakubowski has been the Sabres' capologist and collective bargaining agreement czar since being elevated to the role of assistant general manager under Tim Murray in 2014. Jakubowski shifted into vice president of hockey administration when Botterill was hired in May 2017.

LOL no, why?

Really good eye for talent. Has a history of constructing solid teams. He would be a solid get since we missed out on Dudley.

he’s not perfect, but he would be a good option to help Ralph and Adams with targeting secondary players desperately needed.

This is strange, it seems to me that many of his decisions in Florida were negative, I'm afraid he might advise Adams not what he needs. Not sure if this is a good option. But I'm too not good in this area, maybe you know better.

Holtby for example. Probably

For me, it’s the experience of being through multiple retoolings. I’m not planning for him to run the show or be here for many years, or even to be THE answer. But the Sabres are at a crucial time and they should have someone that has been there done that.

After serving as a senior advisor with the Blackhawks for nearly a year, Tallon was hired on May 17, 2010, by the Florida Panthers as general manager, replacing Randy Sexton.

I mean, I'm not opposed to bringing some help, but this should be the right person, although by the insider information Adams is smarter than Botterill and he is much better at analytics, maybe he does not need such advisors/assistants as Tallon. As noted above, imagine if Adams hires Tallon and we sign Holtby to a long-term contract, it was Adams who decided that or Tallon advised him? In such appointments, there are always two sides of the coin.

It's a mixed bag.

Florida Panthers: Top Five Worst Moves Made by Dale Tallon

He's been fortunate to have been in markets that are desirable to players.
Adams better watch his back if he brings him in. After serving as a senior advisor with the Blackhawks for nearly a year, Tallon was hired on May 17, 2010, by the Florida Panthers as general manager, replacing Randy Sexton. In Chicago he went directly from the broadcast booth to director of player personnel. Unlike Botterill, Tallon can talk.

Are you seriously making a hypothetical situation as justification for not hiring a guy? What if Krueger or someone else (even Adams himself) sign Holtby to a long term contract? Who are we blaming for that? It’s a dumb exercise.

Just why do we need such a person in the organization who has made so many mistakes lately. Better than not invite anyone at all than a guy like Tallon.

We don’t NEED a person in the organization like him, but it could be beneficial to bring someone in that has experience.

The only hockey executives that haven’t made mistakes are ones that have no experience, and boy is that paying off for us well.

I don't mind if they hire an experienced assistant for Adams, but Tallon's resume has looked bad in recent years.
