I'm not gonna hate on Adams for a lack of experience. Murray and Botterill were both heralded as young up-and-comers in hockey management with loads of front office experience, and look what stellar job they did turning the Sabres around.

I want to see who Adams brings in and what his plans are.
Let's just say after last week's debacle the only guys who would agree to come here are those whom we are the only option. People understand working for the Pegulas is career suicide.

I saw a quote a little while ago where someone was worried about Kim firing people and hiring family members to run the business that weren't qualified as the ones who were fired (I think this was early in the COVID shut down)

Reading that was a red flag on where this organization is going.

You're right no one will want to come here. The Pegula's reputation in hockey is that of a joke.

Word on the street is Marty Biron is being groomed as the next GM if Adams can't deliver the goods. They Pegulas want to be fully prepared if another unforeseeable situation arises that isn't their fault. Terry was heard to be muttering, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you and you. Fool me three times, shame on you, you, and you. Fool me four times, shame on you, you, you and you."

Actually I think Marty would be a decent GM. He's got a good mind for the game as many goalies do and I agree with him most of the time on player evaluations.
Also very good with fans and media and popular around the league which is an asset.

And you know he'd have no problem getting on the phone with GM'd around the league to talk....

Marty could be good. He'll talk your ear off, but he's got such a charm that they might just agree to whatever trade he wants to get off the phone

It all depends on who Adams puts around himself, really. I can't imagine there are many guys who are great at every single aspect of the job, but good GMs (good leaders, in general) understand their own weaknesses and recruit people who can cover for those while they play to their strengths.

We already know who he will surround himself with. Those hockey savants Terry and Kim Pegula. Nothing but smooth sailing from here on out with those two steering the ship.

I met Marty last year and asked him if he was interested in getting into management - he said not now, when his kids are older which i think he meant out of the house, he might be interested.

Article #200 about how Dudley would be a great asset for Buffalo without explaining why he'd ever choose to come to this dumpster fire of an organization.

The article is less about adding Dudley, but rather how their pro scouting work has shifted away from in-person scouting to more video scouting.

Personally, that makes a lot of sense for scouting NHL games and to a lesser extent AHL games.

It all comes down to the quality of the video and what you are looking to get out of scouting.

Pro/advance scouting is going to drastically change with player tracking coming online. It will basically combine with video coaching/statistical analysis and hours of watching multiple games will become an hour of machine learning synthesis in the background. Scouting a trade candidate will become as easy as typing a name into a database and you will get a synthesis of every shift and it will spit out their typical/optimal shifts.

Yeah great, but why would any sane person leave an NHL team to go to Buffalo
He's from Buffalo, maybe he wants to go home?

He's from Buffalo and still has a house here. He started as a coach with the Jets 2011 and worked his way up. Why would the Jets let him go? Would he want to destroy a successful career to work for the Pegulas?
I have no idea, but if he is from Buffalo this may be some incentive.
