Kevyn Adams GM thread

Then probably I'll skip it.
I don't know if he will, there is a lot of stuff coming out on the internet right now from a lot of pundits but listening to Adams he doesn't sound like someone who is going to get fired.

I wish there was something we can do as fans to speed up the firing.

I haven't seen a single sane person who was happy with Adams work. Even local reporters like Lysowski and Fairburn are already clearly hinting that this guy has screwed up and he should go. The players are mad at him, they are not happy and I am sure some of them want to go. Terry is an ass who started this whole mess, I hate him.

Realistically, it may get to a point where Adams simply cannot come back.

If:

- The players are unhappy with the direction of the team
- The fans are unhappy with the direction of the team

You can't bring him back. It'll be a diaster in the locker room and the ticket office.

You are heading into a disaster with Adams this summer. He has major RFA (Byram, Peterka, Levi, Quinn) decisions to make. He's cornered himself a bit with the the Norris trade and Zucker/Greenway contracts.

There is a very real possibility that this is a capped out team that in reality won't compete for a playoff spot next year if you bring Adams back.

There is talent here. There are assets here. This is fixable.

Adams has shown that he does not have the plan to make it better.

Truth Bomb that Adams is a clown and clueless.

McLeod, Zucker, and Greenway were good acquisitions but Adams is perpetually chasing the wrong type of defensemen for this team.

I would also say he allowed an acceptance for his younger players in not playing a responsible 2-way game, meaning the forwards (Quinn and Peterka as posterboys for that). Having a line that lives and dies by how its center can handle the rest of the ice for 2 years when that center is also just a kid derailed this team each of the last two years.

This is where I remind people that prior to his injury…Jack Quinn had some of the best defensive impacts among forwards on this team and that kid line worked not because of how the center played…but how the wingers did

When Quinn went down for most of the year and came back wrong…that center fell off of a cliff. People in his new town can tell me how great he is as he gets caved in but they produce…and I will tell them that they should thank their wingers…not us.

And when he was hurt and is now a shell of his former self, having no option for a 2nd line has sunk them for a 2nd straight season. At least they've moved on from the era of just having the line of misfit toys.

How about some "FIRE ADAMS" billboards?

Its not too late for Adams to bring someone in to mentor Power he is still learning. Lets see what Adams does in the off season. If he still refuses to bring in someone to mentor Power and have the same team going forward its going to be tough to watch next year.

This will be the 3rd straight offseason where I want to see Adams have more urgency.

The tough part is that while he made more changes last offseason, they were mostly bottom of the lineup additions with Zucker and McLeod being the most impactful guys.

It's going to be frustrating to watch as we have all sorts of fans and content creators talk about all these impactful moves they could make and they don't happen and it's betting on growth. Again.

Yeah I’d like to see Adams have more urgency this offseason…in seeking employment.

The crazy part about the ESPN article are all the takes that Pegula was too impatient while also living in a time when agents feel like Pegula is checked out because he hasn't fired Adams.

Adams never should have gotten the job in the first place. But, here we are...

The only time I thought patience was due was with GMTM. Botteril might have actually been ok, but I was so done with hearing about scenarios and situations, his firing was a welcome relief. They haven’t once had a good coach. Maybe Granato, but his staff was trash. So I don’t blame impatience there. None of the fired coaches have been any good since. Only Bylsma has even gotten a job, and I would be surprised to see him gone soon.

The issue hasn’t been impatience, it’s been incompetence.

That is definitely the issue. And that is why the article harping on impatience being a major issue missed with me.

My issue with Botterill was, and it is a thing that seems to have grown with Pegula's ownership:

It is a general acceptance of failure and attempting to make excuses and stall for time. Botterill would get in front of microphones and pretend that a season that has been over since November was going OK because "they were in a position to be in games" or citing the number of times they were tied or only down by 1 after 60 minutes.

Such low standards and has gotten even lower now.

Last year Cozens was publicly reprimanded by the bald GM for saying they needed some FU in their game. The whole organization needs FU and a new attitude. So passive, scared, reactive. Front office, coaching, ice.

Pegs ownership shows a marked decline in team toughness over the span from his purchase to now. They're almost 10 years as the biggest bunch of candyasses in the game. They don't draft for it much, they don't encourage it, they don't look for it.

And I think that's directed by the owner.
