Everyone wanna blame Kevyn, but who the f*** blows a 4-0 lead against no goaltending? A bad coach.

Lindy got their ear for 2 games, but he’s ultimately a dinosaur who woulda never coached in the NHL again were it not for penny-pinch Pegula.
Ruff deserves part of the blame but I'm pretty sure he didn't tell them to be passive, avoid physical contact and leave Colorado's star players in peace in front of the net.

In a serious organization (which we are not), the GM would be fired tomorrow.
Came here to post exactly this. Any normal organization would fire Adams in the morning. And while Lindy can stay, the assistants who inexplicably survived Granato's firing would follow Adams out the door.

Now, in any competent organization, major roster moves would follow. They need a playmaker at forward (preferably a center) following their baffling decision to trade Mitts and consequent failure to replace him. They need a power forward who goes to the net with regularity, as that hasn't really been Tuch's game as a Sabre, and Cozens has been straight trash for over a year now. And they have needed another physical, defensive defenseman who skates well enough to play top 4 minutes for...I don't even know how long...since Jay McKee left 20 years ago? I'm not sure at any point in the past 2 decades I've looked at their top 4 and thought they had enough beef there that could actually play.

But, of course, no normal organization would have even hired Adams in the first place, let alone given him 5 years -- 5! -- to build a team. Or told Lindy he had to keep his predecessor's assistants for no discernable reason. And certainly no competent organization would still have this many holes 4 years after trading Eichel.

That is literally the coach’s job, to correct that shit. If you think we somehow magically got the only 18 guys who’d rather avoid contact idk what to tell ya.

You can not let a desperate GM making trades trying to save his job.

It won't be pretty.
Yeah, that's a good point. He already gave up a top 10 pick who was developing nicely for a decent, but nothing special, 3C. Can't let him keep doing stuff like that.

Note: That's not to say Savoie is destined to be a star or anything. Or that McLeod sucks. It's just that the value was way off. And while you may get lucky on a move like that every now and again, for the most part, you're going to get burned doing shit like that. Especially if you make a few trades in that vein. Can't let that keep happening.

He can't bench the whole team. They are all soft. They are the youngest roster in the NHL (AGAIN!!!), and they have zero depth. This really seems like a roster construction issue and not a coaching issue.

Not to mention the team has stunk through like 3 coaches now with a lot of the same players.

I can't even bother to be angry anymore and probably wont care when Adams is fired because they will hire a yes man.

In fact I doubt Adams gets fired. I got nothing.

What legit GMs are out there?

I would take Ken Holland right now.
My list is long overdue, there are some terrible candidates here that you probably don't want to hire, they're just mostly guys with experience that I remembered. I think you can try hiring many of them as a POHO or advisor, but maybe some of them could agree to become a GM again.

Ken Holland
Rick Dudley
David Poile
Dean Lombardi
Brian Burke
Bob Murray
Doug Wilson
Jarmo Kekalainen
Dale Tallon
Marc Bergevin

Kevin Adams:

-Built a roster of low IQ, fragile, lunkheads.
-Traded Sam(Levi), Casey (Byrum), and Jack Eichel (Tuch) for next to nothing. 2 of the 3 have won cups, one leads the league in goals, the other in points.
-Let his infatuation for bottom six this off-season take away from T6F & T4D need.
-NOT ONE NHL player will waive his NTC to come here!
-Apparently is difficult and irritating to deal with per other GM's in the league
-He did not let Lindy pick his assistant coaches. The PP under Appert is worse than last season.
-STILL has cap space! As Chad said in his emergency pod tonight. The year you benefit the MOST from the Skinner buyout on the cap you do not use it... WTF!!
-Signed off on a abominable preseason in Europe.

He should be the former Captain he is and resign in the morning. It's not about him, it's about the fans!

ps And for all the love I have for Lindy, I worry about his health as I'm sure his family is right now as well.

He could bench Byram and Power, sure, but there are about ten players that need to learn basic hockey and their severe lack of both brains and grit makes it hard.

The organization needs an exorcism. The rot and disrepair is so deep and goes all the way back to the Rigas days. They haven't had a serious person heading the operation since they hired John Muckler.

The organizational standards are so low. Their stance on continued failure is "success is seldom linear". Someone needs to plant the flag at the top of the organization and proclaim that the sabres are the class of the nhl. Nothing else should be acceptable. All the grifters they have there with no experience but working for this failed organization need to be punted.

What did you want him to do?

Double shift our non-existent top 6 matchup line? Or double shift our non-existent top 4 lockdown d-pair?

Coaches need to have the tools to handle certain situations.
