They need (and have needed for years) a white-washing of the hockey department. Pegula needs to get over the fantasy that he needs to be able to share his input and stop keeping the franchise hostage based on his selfish desires.

Someone with massive credibility needs to be brought in as a president. Dave Poile comes to mind. Lure him out of retirement with $, and give him full autonomy and budget to build the organization from the top down.

Kevyn Adams was and always will be a joke hire. It was a guy who is willing to lower himself to implement pegulas ideas in exchange for skipping every step needed on the way of becoming an nhl general manager. Many of the other guys in the front office are a joke and wouldn't be able to obtain the same level position elsewhere in the nhl.


Pegula (and adams) really feel they are close to cracking this code of making the playoffs (which seems to have become the low standard of excellence here, which is sad). I believe adams is here for multiple years at a minimum. If the fans and media demand blood, they will go with forton or jakubowski as GM and appert as head coach.


I think there is a greater chance the sabres move in the next 5 years than Pegula figure this out.

It was definitely a condition of employment. Which is why there was no real coaching search. Lindy knows this is his last chance and was willing to take that chance/concession.

Stillman was traded for on Feb 27, Greenway was the TDL acquisition and they were 4 points out of a wild card at the TDL.

So like I said. No help at all. Greenway was a trainwreck when he came in here.

I am not sure what you re posting dates for. I never said Stillman was acquired at the deadline.

Whether it's organizational moves or roster moves it's been the same routine under KA - do the least possible while spending around as little as possible. I'm sure Pegula has influence over this regardless of just how much. It doesn't matter, the result is that this organization continues to be asleep at the wheel, and on-ice success is hopeless without an ownership change or a complete overhaul of the front office.

We can and should blame Pegula. He's been at the helm for this, the worst stretch in franchise history. Yes, there were flaws when he took over but the guy seems like he's chronically made the wrong decision after wrong decision regarding the Sabres. He hasn't lucked into a combo of coach and GM like he did for the Bills, just keeps flailing away.

More likely given our first 10 games is a 2-8 or 3-7 start (4-6 seems unachievable at this time) we will be out before Thanksgiving yet again. The roster is not good enough.

This is 2024-25, and way more billionaires out there who want to play with their money and NHL team is a way to get into sports cheaper than MLB or NFL. Ottawa had a long line of people reday to buy. And I love Ottawa but it is not the capital of sexy places to lives. The Sabres would have tons of suitors willing to keep them in Buffalo. This isn't 20 years ago. But the issue Pegula has zero reason to sell and he's not unless he got some payout beyond current valuation and that would involve moving the team. It's a catch-22

Exactly - that and the NHL knows how big of a cash cow the sabres are when they're good. Canadian market passion under the USD. They wouldn't risk moving that.

Cash cow? I think you are pushing it there. It's the 50% largest metro market in the US, and the population needs to be engaged in order to make the TV contract have any value. The gates in Buffalo are pretty meh because ticket prices are so low compared to other markets. But the NHL is committed to Buffalo (especially under Bettman).

The Bills print money. He doesn’t run the Sabres as if the two entities are profitable together. He is tired of “losing” money on the Sabres and you can see how he operates them very clearly. This has all been reported on for years. I put losing in quotes because it’s a bullshit lie a billionaire is selling to people.. He can claim to have lost millions running the team while ignoring that the value of the franchise has gone up hysterically since his purchase despite zero success. He can stick out his pockets as a comically poor man on paper while in reality his wealth just increases. Anyone who buys it is a fool.

Ask yourself a simple question. If he was really “losing” money and it was so dire he has to gut the hockey department and spend to the floor for years…why doesn’t he sell it? He just enjoys losing money and losing games so much? That’s what we’re going with? Because he can sell it for a ton more than he paid for it and walk away with a lot of profit from the investment if he is “losing” so much money. Weird, right. Couldn’t have anything to do with it being a gigantic lie. What he means is the team loses money. So we have to cut costs everywhere and remain a joke on the ice. Meanwhile…the team has never been worth more than it is today. Value for him, and him alone. No revenue split. Nothing to share. Just sit back, watch teams values keep going up…and grift the whole f***ing franchise right in front of your face.

Because the truth is…being bad at hockey…failing to sell tickets..losing all the time and being a joke…it’s turned his 189 million dollar investment into a 750 million and growing property. That’s reality. That’s what he cares about. He can fail and at the end of the day..he’s worth more and more anyway.

As an added bonus…Giant expansion and relocation payoffs every owner gets that also aren’t shared and somehow also never make that revenue sheet. Because his money and the teams finances are two different things.

The "wealth" from the increased valuation of the franchise cant be accessed without selling some of all of the franchise or using the franchise as collateral for a loan.
